I have a Hunter ceiling fan remote control that I installed along with the fan about five years ago. It has recently started malfunctioning. The fan controls still work, but the button that turns the light on and off stopped working. Does anyone have any idea what this might be? Will I need to replace the remote control unit?

Assuming you have another remote (#2), set it to the same dip settings as #1 and see if #2 has full functionality. That will tell you if the problem is the remote or the reciever.

I think they are usually sold in pairs, but if it's just the remote you may be able to find on amazon or ebay.

If you have to buy a new remote, avoid the Hunter cheap one.

I only have one remote. Will any Hunter remote work? I saw the clips in the back. I guess anything that has that same setup should work, right?

Read the link. I got a Harbor Breeze from HD; any brand will do except the crappy new Hunter's!

Maybe the wires worked themselves loose out of the wire nuts?
