My front door you have to hold the door closed more to get the deadbolt to throw. Is there an easy way to fix this?

Adjust the location of the strike plate.

What if the existing screw holes don't allow for positioning it in the right place?

You can always fill the screw holes and drill new ones. Use glue and wood toothpicks or a dowel pin.

Dremel the strike plate a little if it's just needs a small adjustment.

If you don't fill the screw hole, make sure you move it more than one diameter to get good wood. Honestly I like them to be slightly tight - it makes a better seal, if you make it loose, you may get more air coming in.

Ditto what Absolute said. If you have to push the door in a little to slide the deadbolt, it will force a tight seal on the door. I wouldn't do anything to it unless it was a pain to get it to slide into the hole.

It's definitely a two-handed operation to lock the doir with the key when you're leaving the house.

Dremeling the strike plate might be a good alternative.
