so i'm looking for a new push (self driven) lawn mower this year, that has a high bagging capacity. i guess the bags are measures in bushels (?), but not sure what a good capacity is? i know that the little Home Depot Toro that i have isn't cutting it (yup, pun) on the bagging side.

i'm willing to spend a little money, can somebody recommend a good residential walk-behind self-propelled mower with a larger than normal bagging capacity?

1) why do you want to bag the clippings? A good mulching mower will finely chop everything and return those clippings to the soil.
2) a large bag will be very heavy and a pain in the butt to empty

Get a good mulching mower and don't rob your lawn of valuable N.

Find a good used commercial recycler (toro or snapper)

Go to your local shop (sometimes they have used equipment) Ike small engine's in BCS. Not sure if they carry used but they may know someone.

they carry really good stuff

When mowing tall grass, it can make your lawn look like a hay field. I know in Houston, that is not attractive.

Or if you want to pick up leaves, mowers make it easy.

I thought you were supposed to bag if.you had a lot.of weeds in your grass.

I have been bagging for 2 years and my grass is better than ever. It seamed like my yard has so much dead clippings in it that it didn't get enough sun and was root rotting. But I am no expert

When you do bag your own leaves/clippings, either with a push mower or after raking, I'd strongly suggest buying a "Bag Butler". It was the best $15 I've ever spent in my entire life.

What swiffert said! If you're going to bag clippings, then you ought to at least start composting.
