Check CL or stop by one of the construction sites that are still doing earthwork and see if they'll dump at your place, assuming it is easy access.

i doubt you could get any for free unless you have your own dump truck. i got about 15 yards 2 years ago from a guy on craigslist and they just charged a flat delivery fee of about $100. 130 yards is about 8 full dumptruck loads

I'd be VERY leery of anyone wanting to offload that much dirt for free or even a trucking fee. In that quantity the material you're looking for has some actual value. Stuff that someones giving away for free probably isn't what you want.

+ 1 on be careful....once someone sees dirt piles, you may get more than you bargained for. Pool builders are always looking to get rid of dirt, as well as trash, concrete, pvc pipe, wood, etc.

No clue on that one. Might try asking on the Austin/SanAntonio board. Well that's assuming they can quit discussing breakfast tacos long enough.

That sounds like a lot of dirt for a back yard. Do you have a large yard or exceptional undulation?

Are you planning on doing the earthwork and compaction? Or are you just looking at buying the dirt and having someone else come move it around.

Also, depending on your local jurisdiction, you may need a permit for this.

Careful, you get what you pay for. Free dirt is probably not something you would want to put in your landscape because it will be the poorest soil you could find. There is a reason somebody would give it away for free.
