How long do you want to ignore this user?
Have an A/C question and hoping Texags has an idea what it is.

My upstairs unit starting acting up last night and has essentially rendered itself useless. What happens is this:

The thermostat would click on, and the upstairs fan and outside unit would turn on as normal..... then after a few minutes, both units would simultaneously shut off, even though the thermostat has not clicked off (as it hasn't reach set temp). Then after a minute or so.... both units would turn back on.

This happened several times last night... but each occurrence, the time between the thermostat clicking on (and both units turning on) to the point where both units simultaneously shut off... got shorter and shorter.

Now... you can turn on the thermostat and then units will just turn on and instantly turn back off.

Any ideas?

Bad thermostat, bad relay, bad condenser fan getting hot, compressor kicking off due to heat? Could be a lot of things, unfortunately some easy and some hard to figure out.

prob bad condenser fan and your high pressure cutout switch is saving your compressor.

This is a good thing because it is saving you from catastrophic failure.
