I have a Carrier and the Fan on the condenser is not turning. I can hear the intake air working.

I went out to the unit and could hear a buzz, like it was trying to work and every once and a while a click.

My boss has this same issue, but cannot think of the name of the part.

Could be just a blown capacitor. Cheap fix.

capacitor, yep that what he said his issue was. Hopefully only a $20 part to fix.

Could also be the fan motor.

I replaced one of my capacitors this spring proactively - it was rusty and bulging. I think it was 50 - 60 dollars for the part. Easy fix if you want to do it yourself.

I buy that type of part at Adam the Answerman Appliance part - 214-553-5450. Call them, they will need some spec numbers off the old one and will give advice on how to switch it. It is like a 5 minute job.

If you have to do the fan motor too, it goes up to like $110 in parts, but I think they give you the capacitor. More like a 30 minute job then, but still not hard.

I work for Lennox corporate so I pay 25% off dealer cost. Capacitor was $23. Hopefully it does the trick as some lennox motors are not compatible with Carrier.
