Looks like a great idea. I just used a 4 lbs hammer, though.

I used a jack to replace the counters in my master bath. My counter had walls on three sides and the only option was to use a jack to lift up the counter top. Make sure to remove any screws/nails etc holding the counter top in place, and cut through any caulking.

Too much work....Just make sure to remove all screws from cabinets or bracing to back wall. If they are glued down to cabinets too chances are glue is old enough you can just use a little force and pop the countertops right off.

Minus prep work of cleaning out cabinets, and cleaning off countertops, I have never had any countertops take me more than an hour to remove, sink, backsplash and all.

Except once when the countertop was tile and the screws went into the cabinet from under the tile.....that one took about 5 hours and a whole lot of cussing.

I hope it isn't too hard. It's in a Lennar home built 4 years ago. The counters are a nice grade of material (don't know exactly what) but aren't stone. We're trying to save the cabinets from any damage so we're trying to avoid using a pry bar.
