So, I am installing a spa tub that is fiberglass and acrylic. PVC drain pipe.
Should I use plumbers putty or silicone on the drain?
I heard plumbers putty might not be so good on acrylic. That is what I have always used. Never used silicone caulk on a drain.
Anybody have bad experiences with putty or used silicone on a drain?

I used silicone on an acrylic shower drain 8 years ago because that's what the instructions said and had major leak because it didn't last. Granted, it took 8 years for it to start leaking, but when I replaced the drain this time I used plumbers putty. I'll be interested to see other responses.

FYI. Bought some Hercules 'Sta Put Ultra' plumbers putty that is oil free and safe on Acrilic (and some stone materials). Couldn't find it at the big box stores and went to a plumbing supply house.
