Japanese Maple leaf problems

Every year my japanese maples get a brown fringe around the edge. Overall it doesn't seem to bother them because they come back healthy as ever the next spring. The leaves on the top of the tree have more brown than those in the bottom portion.

Is it just the heat that I can't do anything about or do I need to water more, water less?

our (maple) does the same and we have added some iron to the yard around the tree - seems to have helped.

I have been wondering about mine also, but I assume it is normal for these to do that.

Mine has only been planted a couple of months but it seems to be barely hanging on for its life. I figured I would keep watering it and see how it turns out next spring before I pull it up and try again.

The Shantung I planted back in march is doing the same thing. It has new growth and the seeds are looking very healthy so I'm not too worried about it.

Japanese maples like full to part shade. The bloodgood variety will tolerate sun, but will have tip burn. It's normal for that to happen in the summer if it's not planted in shade.

Olag, I would re-plant it in the fall. That way it has the most amount of time to root in before the summer. That picture to me looks like it's not goign to make it.

I don't think I've ever seen a Japanese Maple in sun or shade that didn't have a little tip burn by mid-summer. It's "normal" for them in Texas.

Looks like my maple is starting to show signs of life...

I have just been watering every night...

it's this awful heat, it's burning the leaves but they will come back out in the spring.
just keep watering the tree as you normally would,
it's NOT lack of water that is causing this. their leaves are thiner than most tree leaves and are not bred to with stand the hot Texas heat.

mine that are under deep shade are fine but the ones that get more sun do this every year.

Yeah, we have major tip burn on our two. Neither of them get much shade.
