Photo dump. Really nice course. Weather was perfect, mid 80s with light wind. Just shows what a crap hole Houston is lol.
You're in my hood, still need to get over and play this course.

Day 2 in the books. Played 36 today at Rodeo Dunes, walking about 15 miles or so. Really fun track and you cant tell its only been open a year. Fairways are fantastic and greens in good shape. No driving range or putting green. The pro shop is a small trailer so dont expect much on that end if you go soon. Second course supposed to open in 2028.
Now for something I need the experts on this board opinions on. We were told the caddie fee for today was $150 inclusive of gratuity. Each foursome had 2 caddies so they double bagged. After the round I hand our guy $340. He looks at me and says "this is a little light". I handed him another $20 and walked away. I later asked my playing partner how much he paid him and the guy pulled the same thing with him. I've never had a guy say that and was really taken aback. I thought I was very fair in my initial payment. Me and the other guy only had to look for our tee shots maybe 6 times at most total all day so it wasn't like we were hiking all over creation.
Really left a bad taste in my mouth and I mentioned it to the FE guy running the event. He had my back and thought the caddie was out of line. How would yall have handled this?

Are you saying each caddie got $340 or $170 a bag? If so, that's a very good rate most places in the country.
I've only had a caddie hit me up for more once. It's usually a big no-no with the caddie masters unless they are paid below recommendations. It's a great way to get blackballed and held out of loops.

Im saying our caddie got almost $700 today from me and my playing partner. It was $150 a loop.

And that caddie can go F himself. That was out of line.
Definitely bad bull for the caddie to say that, especially if you paid him the listed rate plus $20. Who from Fried Egg was at the event?

I would've told that caddie to go F himself. You literally paid him double than what was required, not to mention your playing partner paid him as well. His boss and everyone involved should hear about that.
Well not double. It was $150 per loop. We played 2 rounds so I owed $300 and so did my partner. $150 per round per bag I guess is a better way of saying it.
Will would certainly take care of it with the caddie master if you tell him about it.

missed the two rounds part.....in that case the caddie still comes off as an ashole, just not as bad as one

40 weeks a year
500 x day (700 is probably not a reasonable average, 500 is still probably high)
Is $100,000 x year. Probably tax free.
Not bad work for probably no college degree. Not much future, but still too good of a deal to piss away pushing for an extra $20.
And, why you gotta take a cheap shot at Houston? We know it isn't pretty, but the jobs are here and the people are nice. Make the best, or make your way somewhere else. Don't stew in it if you hate it.

I've lived here 50 years. I can say whatever I want about it. The shot was mainly about the weather not our jobs or people. Good grief
Few things:
1) First of all, great pics. We've talked about TFE events in the past, and based on the pics it looks like you got another trip that was well worth it. I'm now going to keep an eye out for this event in the future. Plus, Will is a cool guy and a great host at the events.
2) Imo the caddie was out of line. At previous events I think they included the caddie fee and we tipped them on top of that if we chose. The caddie I had was more than appreciative and very gracious. Sucks you had to experience that. But imo you did nothing wrong.
3) I likewise escaped the oven of Houston this week and came up to Michigan. And considering we've both endured the humidity of Htown for decades, we can say whatever we want about it.

Yeah, been here in Houston for a long time and the summer weather does suck (June-October); it is what it is. Quick question. Is there a green fee on top of the caddie fee per round? Googled RD green fee and it says $350.

Giving the guy a $40 tip is more than fine. Caddie was out of line for sure.

Every time in CO, I think the same thing about Houston...so freakin hot.
But then this last time in CO it was over 100...and I felt slightly better about living in Katy..haha.
Colorado can be awesome. It's just the whole issue of trying to make a comparative living there that gets in the way.

Hate that I missed you, I was on the trip as well. We had an absolute blast, and I can't wait to get back to Rodeo once it has grown in some.
