I have a gaming computer, so it was quite efficient to get uneeker eye mini light. Very big upgrade over my previous skytrak, and not super expensive

So, you and I are the same path. 3 things:

1. A simulator with golf courses (more here in a bit)
2. A short throw projector
3. A hittable screen and turf to hit from

Thats pretty much it. You can spend a ton or do some stuff yourself. For Item #1, looking at the Mevo+.

After the simulator and projector, it should be peanuts.

garage sim pro tip, after I iterated on mine 1000 times.

1. screen on a curtain track. Take down in 5 seconds.
2. hitting mat with a hitting zone that has forgiving foam underneath. They make those specifically now, but I modified mine. Will save your joints.
3. mat surround that lets the ball just bounce back onto the mat. My mat was raised above the floor forever, and it was always a hassle to get the balls back up onto the zone.

One consideration for the Mevo+, it requires space because it is radar based (actually uses fusion technology that is I think, both radar and optics). It requires 8 ft behind the ball and 8-10 ft of ball flight. Full disclosure, we have have a Mevo+ and love it, especially with the pro package and face impact upgrades. Flightscope now has the Mevo+ Gen 2, and I think it is very reasonably priced but again, just wanted you to know they require space.

The Mevo's sit behind you in your setup where as the optics based one sit next to you.

You don't need it from day 1 but if you can figure out how to keep the room cooler it will help a lot. When I moved to a new house there wasn't a good room inside to put my golf simulator so we put it in a covered patio that was surrounded by 3 walls of the house and 1 wall of screens. It was so hot in there that it took the fun out of playing it 6+ months out of the year. I ended up closing in the screened wall and put a portable AC in there and now I love it again.

If it is going in your garage, how much light will be in the space while in use? That could change which sim you purchase. I have a square golf sim that I use indoors only (inside my house) and it works great with TP5/TP5x Pix golf balls.

I found a YouTube video for a DIY enclosure that looked very similar to some of the ones you can buy online and it works great. All in I spent about $2,500 if I remember correctly.

Carl's Golfland is a good place to look if you want a kit that you purchase all from one location.

I researched this for 4-6 months before building mine out.

A lot of decisions will impact final build.

A few questions you need to answer:
1. Will this be a dedicated space?
- Do you want to be able to tear down, put away easily

2. Do you want right and left handed players to be able to hit
- Radar based or overhead LM?

3. Is this more for fun or to dial in your game.
- Budget LM vs several $1,000

4. Available space.
- garage door rails in the way?

5. How "handy" are you?

6. Do you want a projector or monitor to show shots.

I could have built one for a couple thousand but went a for a bit more of an immersive feeling room. I also use it mainly for practice and dialing in distances and "feel" shots. I may play a course once a month if someone comes over.


Here is a list of things I had to do before I even got into the equipment needed.

I had a jackshaft installed and raised my garage door rails.(Contractor)
Moved lighting and installed new lighting.
Painted entire room
Insulated the garage door
Laid gym tiles and turf, cut to size.
Installed wall and ceiling padding.

If you want save some $$ up front, go with a net with return and put an old TV on the wall run off an iPad or cheap laptop.
