Refreshed the page right at 10, got to register 15 minutes later. 4,000 plus in line lol. If they have enough booking agents they will sell out the year in one day I bet.

Best of luck to everyone. I'm so happy to have been a couple years ago. I think in order to play Sedge and Commons I will just make a drive up after a work trip to Chicago or something and not try to stay on property.

Is this just to play for the day?
Or if you stay on property you get to play?

Whats the cost difference of staying in line and booking directly with the resort, versus getting in an event with a golf society like Fried Egg or BTS?

While scheduling can be a factor, I'm wondering how much of a savings one gets from dealing with the queue process.

This is beginning to sound like a pyramid scheme to get in a course like Augusta, but ain't no Augusta....
"Green" is the new RED.

I'll qualify this by saying I'm not an expert on this.

My understanding is that, to be able to book in advance, you need to stay on property.

So, if you are travelling for the sole purpose to play golf and want to play several rounds, then advanced booking with accommodations is the way to go.

If you live close enough or will just be in the area, then I think you can call a few weeks in advance (I don't know if it is 2 weeks or 4 weeks or what exactly, but I believe it is on their website)

I have never tried going through a third party to book at any of these places.

As I have posted previously, I do the booking for an annual trip for a group of 8. We have played at Bandon, Cabot, Pinehurst, Kohler, Big Cedar Lodge and a few other places. We are booked for Sand Valley this year (booked like two years ago). The only places that I've had particular difficulty getting into are Bandon and SV. after booking them in the past and waiting on the phone in a queue for several hours, I actually don't mind the lottery system they have now. I plan on just registering for each of them each year and if I get in I'll go. If not, I'll go somewhere else and try again. I figure I'll get in to one every several years and that'll be fine for us.

This years Fried Egg event at Sand Valley is $4200 per person for a double occupancy room. That includes 5 rounds and 3 nights lodging (plus other stuff like a few meals and a gift etc).

The golf and lodging itself, if booked through SV directly, would be about $1900. So the upcharge is in the range of $2,000 for it to be entirely organized by and prebooked etc.

Though having done a couple TFE events now, its worth every penny
