I am interested to see the renovations to TPC Craig Ranch this week.

Scheffler is back in the field this year. However, I think Knapp vindicates his 18th hole chunk last week with a win this week.

Tur***gie, how's the course holding up from this Wednesday rain?

Jordan Spieth: +1800

They overseeded so it should look better, but the major renovations will take place after the tournament

The big work will start after the tournament. I hear they will be staging some reno equipment as the final group finishes earlier holes on Sunday as sort of a PR stunt

Cam's in at the Byron Nelson. I saw he was listed as an alternate earlier in the week. Cam, Palmer and Chandler will all be in.

Palmer +100000
Chandler +20000
No odds on Cam I assume because he is a late entrant.

7 under through 17 and solo 2nd. Good to know he's alive.

He finished -7. Had a really bad drive on the par 5 18th but managed to save par or he might be tied for the lead at -8. Look at his stats - he's 1st in SG putting and 43rd in SG on approach. That's a formula for winning this event. Hopefully he can keep it up. Surprisingly, he's only 63rd in SG off the tee.

I played out there a couple weeks ago, it was in the best shape I've ever seen it. Greens were fast and the rough was high and thick. They narrowed the fairways a bit as well.

That being said, it rained about 3" yesterday and there is no wind so it's pretty defenseless. My dad is out there today watching and said it's pretty soggy but not bad. I'm not going until Sunday.

61 is a pretty good score to start the tournament.

For those of you who might go, I'd post up between the #3 & 4 greens or between the #14 & 16 green. My favorite hole is #6 followed by #14, both downhill drivable par 4's. I absolutely hate the tee shot on #9, it's as bad as it looks.

Was out there today, posted up mostly at the 9th green. The course looks better than the last few years. Got to see Phillips and Palmer tee off on the first.

Pretty sure I read somewhere that it's supposed to be done by the end of 2025, so no course change needed.

That said, I know a guy at Dallas National that said they apparently want to bring the Nelson down to that course once their down renovating

i think a lot of us have been around for all the iterations of this tournament. The problem with DNC is that it lacks the infrastructure to host. McKinney and Irving are both very well equipped to handle parking, hospitality, etc.

And mckinney is the epicenter of population of collin county. they tried it with TF and it was a nightmare. nobody lived close enough.

it's not the best course but neither was TPC LC. mckinney does what it needs to do and i'm happy it's staying

This, there are a growing number of restaurants popping up within 5 minutes of the course and Legacy West is 10 minutes away. Easy access to 121, literally border the 2nd green/3rd tee. Fairly affluent area and as long as big crowds show up then no need to look elsewhere. I live less than 2 miles from the course and it inconveniences me exactly zero, so even better.

100% agree. McKinney has worked pretty well other than the course just being to easy. Like y'all said, the infastructure build up has been done well around the area.

I don't think the shops and restaurants are the issue. Moreso that it is one of the worst courses on tour and the fields seemingly get worse and worse each year.

it's a really interesting thing that's going on right now with BiBiGo being the title sponsor. with the sponsor and the fac that DFW is the major residence center of a lot of the Asian tournament players it's become the deFacto Asian tournament of the tour. I'm not going to pretend those are the players i want to watch so i agree in the fact that the field isn't great. but if we're being honest here it has g been in a long time.

the saving grace is that a couple of the top tour players are from here and they will play their hometown tournament. we also have 3 good Ags in there right now so it's good enough for me
grego
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yeah the sponsor issue is a good point as well. It just seems to be rudderless since Byron died. Probably hasn't been played at a marquee course since PT but he and his legacy kept it as a really premier tourney for a long time.

And I don't think DN wants it. But could see it moving to Fields Ranch or even Maridoe. I think Maridoe would be best from a pure golf perspective but of course that is far from the only metric at play

The poor fields are because of the spot in the schedule in between signature events. Now that all the big names have to play all signature events, every single normal tour spot like the Nelson that is sandwiched between signature events suffers drastically.

The course doesn't do it any favors. But if it was a signature event or wasn't sandwiched between signature events it would do much better. The oga tour has ****ed over a lot of tour stops. But everyone likes seeing all the big names in the signature events, so there is collateral damage.

Several items have really damaged it. It used to have one of the biggest (if not the biggest) non-major, non-Players purses on tour

1) Byron's death - he would write personal invitations to some players
2) The Players moving to May (then the PGA). Squeezed the May calendar
3) Quail Hollow reconstructed into a course the players love and the tour going back there with a May date about 20 years ago. Between this and #2, May really got squeezed
4) The courses have never been the players favorite regardless of TPC, TF, or CR, but the TF miss really hurt.
5) The 4Seasons and Salesmanship club did a great job of pampering player families while having the convenience of staying onsite when it was at TPC, but that's missing now

Chandler's playing great so far too. -2 today through 9, -8 overall. 2 Ags in the top 10.

. It's either mud on the ball or someone didn't rake the bunker properly or a gust of wind, etc. It's always something besides his fault.

Last Summer they closed three holes at a time to do some irrigation work but the bulk of the renovation hasn't been touched. Estimated closing is from May 2025 to November 2025.

I heard it's going to be around 15 million total. They're lengthening the course about 150 yards, adding fairway bunkers, making the regular bunkers much tighter to the greens, thicker rough, and making the greens even faster.

It's not the most fun course to watch on TV but it's actually really fun to play and players are even vocal on that aspect. The goal I was told was that they want it to be tough enough to were the winning score is -10 to - 15 range.

Every PGA event that isn't a major or signature event has lousy fields. We just notice our local event. Signature events need tweaking. About half can be at the biggest non-majors every year, like Memorial Tournament. Then the other 4-5 rotate amongst the other tournaments.

Moving away from Las Colinas hurt the tournament. Nelson was widely regarded as best tournament for wives and families. Everybody wanted to play it because they were treated like kings.
