Got tickets for Sunday round, any advice welcome from anyone who has been there. What holes should we focus on and how would you approach the day to maximize the experience. We Are taking the early train from Belfast to Portrush. They will be running special trains all tournament. There is not a lot of infrastructure around Portrush itself evidently.

Played it twice, great course and no not a lot out there.

You could sit behind 9 green and see shots into 11 green as well

You could sit at 17 green and see shots into 13 green too

#3 is short and could see some good shots there

They might have #5 playing shorter one day and let guys go at the green... that could be fun

There isn't much in the area, but if you could stay in the area, it's very nice. I was there 2 years ago. I would say that the train is a better option than driving. I imagine traffic will be terrible. Small, narrow, one lane roads in each direction...and those are the major roads.

BTW, try not to stand still in Belfast, you might get covered in graffiti if you do. Everything in that city is tagged.

Thanks for all the tips. anything and everything anywhere close to Portrush has been.booked (presumably by the R&A and Corporate interests) or is stratospheric in price.. We are just two nights in Belfast solely for tournament logistics. Then heading to some castles in Ireland proper.

Had a great time in Belfast, found a crazy good breakfast place (now forget the name) and ran into Peter Dinklage (Tyrrion Lannister) at our hotel. We also did the Titanic Museum and it was also really good
