Anyone play after having this surgery?

what did/do you do to prevent another tear?

I tore my ACL and meniscus and after 9 months, I was playing basketball again.

Just be diligent with your rehab exercises and you'll be fine.

I could write a thesis on this topic. Have had 3 meniscus surgeries in my right knee.

1st surgery was a true repair. 2nd and 3rd surgeries were trimming and shaving. I went 10 years between the 1st and 2nd, and 3 years between the 2nd and 3rd. Knock on wood, been good for 7 years now. In terms of managing the pain and health of the knee, I do pay a lot of continued attention to it. Knee sleeve when I'm doing a certain level of physical activity. When I am hiking, lifting lower body weights, etc., I have more of a sleeve brace that helps.

Which knee are you getting fixed up? I do agree with Jawn that being diligent with rehab exercises is the best start to it all. After that, long term, the better the strength of you and your leg, the better it will be protected.

Left knee, and I am right handed.

Got it. In that case definitely be mindful of the combination of pressure down on your knee and twisting of the knee on that follow through. Do not be hesitant to back off if you're progressing in activity but something starts feeling sore or different. Better to stop a session early, rest and ice your knee, and then come back another day rather than re-tear anything. It can take some time to feel comfortable doing certain activities like golf, and you'll need to build up to the bigger full swings over time.

Thanks. Thinking about using a sleeve for future golf, I'm not any good anyway so it can't hurt too much.

Everyone is different, but I returned to golf about 6 weeks after my meniscus surgery, and kept wearing a compression brace for another 6 weeks. Knee was good.

What kind of brace, definitely going to use one far a while

Did you play less "violently" after, like swinging 75% or change stance etc

Following my orthoscopic surgery, the doctor fitted me with an hinged knee brace. I wore it for about 3 weeks while I healed. Then, I wore a small compression brace for another 3 weeks for support while I rehabbed/walked. Once I returned to golf, I wore a larger compression brace, but only when I played.

I did kinda ease back into the full swing, but I don't remember it taking me very long to get back to taking full swings. Your body will give you feedback. It's like my doc said when he cleared me to do whatever... "if it hurts, don't do it". You'll be fine.
