we do annual guys golf trip. we hit PC about every other year so done it 5 times now.

if any of your group is at a good club in Texas see if they can get on at the following in this order:
Victory Ranch....this is getting harder and harder to get access as its exploding out there....easily a top 5 course I've played behind Congaree, Oakmont, and The Wilderness
Promontory
Glenwilde
Red Ledges
**Tuhaye...never played it but heard good things

For public...
Soldier Hollow...they have 2 courses there...gold and silver....we like Gold MUCH more than silver. Gold is more elevation, silver is more wide open and flat. Great place to get in 36 holes
Wasatch Mountain...not far from Soldier....not as nice either but a fun place to play when you've done 4 rounds in 3 days and ready for a cheaper round just to goof around
Canyons golf....same as Wasatch
Thanksgiving Point which is on south side of SLC we did MANY years ago and it was decent

Thanks for that. I've got our Pro looking into it, but he's not great for courses out West.

Private golf out there looks really nice...Public not so much, but I'll have some hacks in the group, so a little timid to do the ritzy stuff for fear of owning a $50K window....

Probably end up at Canyons as it is right across the street from our hotel

Do you recall the green fees for Victory Ranch or Glenwilde?

First time we played victory was only 2-3 years after they built it so it was only like $150. The next time we played was several years later and it was north of $250. Haven't played it in 4 years so who knows what it would be now. It's harder to get on to now

Glenwild wasn't too bad is all I remember but it's been several years. Last couple of times we've only gotten on promontory.

I will say this for the public courses. Remember they get more moisture up there which helps tremendously and it seems their public courses aren't as money hungry so they are in better shape than publica down here....... especially for the price.

Do the little road trip out to soldier hollow and your crew won't be disappointed. Play the gold and it'll keep the golf snobs happy while also easy on the wallet for the hacks

2nd the rec for Soldier Hollow. The gold course is top notch and doesn't break the bank either. I've also played Wasatch and Dell Mountain. Both are fairly good from a muni perspective.

Canyons is fun but it is on the side of a mountain so can play pretty difficult if you don't have the driver working that day. Great views and pretty fun hole (10 I think) where you tee off from about 300 ft above the fairway.

I remember Glenwild being fun, but nothing spectacular.

Wasatch was great in October when we went in 2023. I can't recall the course name, but it wasn't the Lakes course; could've been "Mountain." Elevation changes galore and a fun track. A par five that looks down into the valley and the hole just goes on for days.

Would definitely add to your list if you're playing multiple trips.

I don't take as many photos as I thought, but Wasatch was great.

having played both multiple times over the years.....soldier....hands down and don't even have to think twice about it.
especially the gold course. if silver is the only option then I'd say do wasatch
