I thought there used to be a Masters Tips & Tricks thread but I can't find it after searching for a while.

Has anyone brought cameras to the practice rounds and do they have certain types of cameras that aren't allowed?

I have a Sony a7iii which does have video capability but it's not very good and I wouldn't use it for that anyway but I don't want to bring it if they're not going to let me use it.

Going on Tuesday so I know cameras are allowed since it isn't a tournament day but can't find much beyond that.

I don't think there were any restrictions… basically as long as it isn't a cell phone, you should be good. I'm sure someone on the board might have more specific info though. There's a guy on here that volunteers every year, I imagine he would know.

The only restriction is you can only bring one lens less than 8". So your camera should be good. The rule is Only still photography allowed but unless you're blatant about it, not sure how they'll catch you taking some videos here and there.

I may or may not have taken a video of Tiger teeing off on 11.

I took a point-and-shoot type camera to the Monday practice round in 2023. You do have to walk through a metal detector, so they will see it, but no one gave it a second look nor asked if it can record videos (which it could).

99% of P&S and DSLR can do video these days so they obviously can't enforce if you have that function and prohibit those cameras. If someone sees you obnoxiously videoing or trying to do some tik tok I can guarantee you they will ask you to leave or confiscate the camera. If you do it discreetly no one will ever know.

Even during the actual round last year, I saw people who snuck a phone in or was using their apple watch to text. Just don't be obvious with it.

I took a camera and took a few videos with it during a Monday practice round. Didn't have any idea that video wasn't allowed if that tells you anything

Booradley is the guy that volunteers and does the yearly thread if I remember correctly.

I took a pretty a large camera with me one year to the Tuesday round and had no problems. Going again this year to the Wednesday Par 3 tournament. I hope the rules are the same.
