A friend of mine is wanting to take a group of couples somewhere for his 40th birthday.

His requests are golf, beach, and nightlife and has mentioned Hilton Head or somewhere in Florida. Birthday is mid September so somewhere around then.

Anyone have any recommendations (doesn't have to be HH or FL)?

As much as I would like to do this, I doubt the group would be willing to drop that much haha.

I didnt consider this. I'm assuming staying on the south side of the lake with that big resort where they host the celebrity tourney?

Marcos island in Florida may be a good option. Not sure about the nightlife but should have something.

South Lake Tahoe is awesome if the group is fine paying $350 for Edgewood. Not much else within an hour drive other than that and Lake Tahoe golf course (which is fine but nothing special).

HH nightlife isn't robust imo. I felt at least on the island, it starts to shut down around 9 but at 40..that should be about right, especially since couples outing. Girls should have a good time around Harbor Town and the beach.

Wanna save money and have a trash all get out golf, party, eat buffet and get drunk, there's always Myrtle Beach.

Yeah, we did a group trip a few years back. Played Edgewood a few times and drove over to some course in Nevada. You got the beach, casinos, some night life, and outdoor activities.

It sounds like Myrtle is picking up steam with the group.

Is there a resort to stay at or better to get a few/huge AirBnb?

Also let me know the course everyone recommends in the area. Looking at playing a minimum of 2 rounds.

If you have a larger group, I'd skip the resorts and just rent a house on the beach. There are plenty available down there, literally on the beach.

There are something like 90 courses within an hour of Myrtle. The Barefoot courses review well, as do the Legends courses.

Pawley's Island/ Plantation were always fun when I played those.

You might do a search for the type of course you want. There are plenty of links style, some that are on the coastal marshes with a lot more water in play, some where you're either on the fairway or in the waste bunker/ sand (no idea what that's called),but they have a ton of variety.

And they have a crapton of good places to get pancakes each morning.

Couple of questions...

What state do you live in?
Do you want to travel outside that state?
You say "couples" - so wives are going as well?
Do the wives play golf?

This or even renting a house on the beach a little farther up the coast. Lots of great golf and the weather is better than Florida and without mosquitos.

I second Southern California over Mrytle Beach.

Torrey North/South
Aviara
Maderas
throw in Pechanga for some casino after golf

Bandon…..

They will not be able to use the beach, it's cold, and there's no nightlife plus it's 95% dudes. Tell the wives all golf trips are like this and from now on it's just you and your buddies.

Strategery.

Loved Aviara when I played it. Maybe the best collection of par 3s I've ever played.

Couldn't agree more. Such a fantastic golf course.

Cabo - Stay at a house at Pueblo Bonito and play Quivera and also get out to Puerto De Los Cabos and Cabo Del Sol which are public

Scottsdale also a phenomenal option Old Town is awesome and there are about 20 great courses within an hour. No Beach, but lots of awesome resort pools

This is a bit of a dilemma... golf trips with non-golfing wives isn't really a golf trip, it's a couples trip. So now, on top of the top dollar golf that you wanted to play, now you have to pay top dollar to have some hopefully gay dudes massage your necked wives while y'all play golf. Looks like resort city for you now.

That being the case, I'd recommend Arizona - lots of good options in Scottsdale and Sedona.

Charleston over Hilton head. Sea Pines is nice and you could do that as a side trip, but Charleston much more fun and there's great golfing near by

Was looking at a Myrtle golf trip just recently and almost came close to pulling the trigger until we looked at flight options. Very few direct flight options from TX (Dallas specifically) and looked like it was going to be a pain to get to. Now planning on St George/Hurricane instead.

If you must go to M B, I recommend Tidewater as a great golf option.
I also highly recommend San Diego and 30A over M B
