Visiting Texas this week and my boys and I played there today. Only saw one other cart on a beautiful Saturday. Is that typical. Diabolical greens.

Used to play out there a ton. It was never crowded. Would play 36 every time and not have to wait on a shot. Would finish 18 and drive back to 1 tee no questions asked.
Dormie Network has churned out most of the regional members and it's a bit early in the season for the traveling members to show.
How does this place work? Easiest "get on" ever.

I got to meet Bill Rogers, Buddy Cook and Gil Hodge when my company built the clubhouse, around 2005 / 2006.
Bill Rogers was very nice and super humble.
It is part of the Dormie Network. Multiple courses throughout the US owned by the same family. We joined a couple of years ago and really enjoy it. There is no initiation fee and no monthly dues. I joined with my company and the agreement is that I will spend 80 nights at Dormie properties throughout each calendar year during our contract (3 years). Every Dormie property has on site four bedroom casitas, each room with a king bed, its own bathroom, and one large shared living space. There are usually around 60-72 beds at each course. Just one bedroom counts as a night towards your 80 required nights per year. I am hosting a large group of 36 guys in mid November for two nights. Just that one stay will get me 72 of my required 80 nights for the year.
Dormie just built their first course, GreyBull, in Maxwell, NE that opened in August of this year. Heading out there in May of 25 to check it out but so far the reviews on it have been great.
Can't say enough good things about the Dormie Network. Great food, lodging, golf, and absolute top notch service. They don't miss on any details.

I was a member for about 4-5 years. I would NEVER recommend anyone pay an initiation and dues as a regional or national member. The model is churn and burn. As stated above it works best for persons using it for business purposes (Signature membership with room night commitment and 4 year contract most frequently). When they first started it was more of a "pure" golfers model ... about two years ago they switched to more corporate hosting rather than focused on individual members.
Things to be aware of ... two of the courses they consider their flagship are the same price for the member as the guest (Dormie Club minimum $1200/night noon to noon all-inclusive; GrayBull $1400). Other places tend to have some other leverage move going on - no options for supper except for $150-200 giant multi-course meal, etc.
They flood the market with memberships through auctions and the like as part of the family's tax planning (which the whole network serves as) so you need to have your year planned out pretty well. You'll see lots of unaccompanied play at times as well. When they first started the promise was "no more than 72 on site on any day" but you'll see way more than that more often than not now. If you have a trip planned and there are open cottages and a company offers to takeover the entire campus they will bump you.
They negotiate rates, but will tell you they don't. During my time as a member one of the GMs tried to leverage me to donate to the family foundation to get a better deal. I have another friend who joined and prior had asked about any upcoming changes to pricing and policy and they told him no. About a month later all inclusive was announced with pricing for member same as for guest. He felt misled. He eventually was given back half of his initiation after being asked to sign an NDA.
The hospitality and service is unbelievable. It is a great place for a large guy's trip, but corporate hosting is their main priority. Regionals and nationals are kind of treated like filler for when Signatures don't book them full. The courses are all solid with some being very good. GrayBull, Dormie Club, Ballyhack, and Victoria National are a notch above the others as far as the actual course. TX0 available to those with private jet access. Lodging all great. Makes a ton of sense if you host for business.
Vibe is very much member-guest all the time ... generally a big party always. Just things to keep in mind depending what you're looking for overall.

I read that, and it seemed like it might be informative. But I came to the conclusion that I'm too poor to understand what you're talking about.
Briggs is way underrated in my opinion. Beautiful place and incredible conditions.

Is there anyway to get on here without being a member? A handful of us are going on a weekend dove hunt that direction in January and would love to get on if possible somehow?

Have a pro call and if they aren't full they'll likely let you on ... at unaccompanied prices. Likely require at least one night stay.
If there are open tee times on the dates you're gonna be there, I can get you on you won't have to stay. Unaccompanied rates are I think $400 a person plus caddie fee and tip.
appreciate the offer. I will have to get with the group and see what they think about trying to squeeze a round in. With the time change it may be tough for us.
