Anyone a member at Blackhawk in Richmond? Curious how the amenities are as well as the course.

I am at Shadow Hawk and Black Hawk….both have great courses and amenities are wonderful. Pool, gym etc are all great. SH is great because it's smaller amount of members and easy access to course.

Played BlackHawk this summer once. Course conditions were way above average. Tightness of holes and water made me put driver down multiple times. Guest fee of $190 is a bit steep.

Blackhawk used to be The Houstonian. Played it several times back then with a buddy when his dad was a member. Excellent men's locker room. Course was pretty awesome too.

How would you compare shadow hawk to black hawk? Just the golf courses - I know the club houses are probably quite different

Both are great courses but Shadow Hawk's greens are faster and tougher to read. There are more trees on SH too.

Both club houses are nice but I like SH better

Isn't SH considerably more expensive than BH? I looked into membership a few years back at BH and it was $20-25k, and my understanding was SH was north of $100k. Could be mistaken but I thought you paid more for SH to get more privacy, better amenities and ability to walk onto the course at anytime and play because no one ever was playing.

I've played BH 25 times and seen maybe 3 4-somes playing SH in all those times.

All is correct! I moved to SH so I can play anytime and the amenities and clubhouse are awesome. Service is top notch and really love it. I joined BH about 15 years ago and SH 4 years ago and very happy I did. BH is too crowded and they let in alot of people over Covid with some "deals".

It is now $20-25k at BH and they are raising the price to $100k at SH.

My best friend is a member there and 100000% agree with you on the guest fees. Absolutely absurd. I can play as a guest at Carlton Woods for that price. That said, for members they've got great amenities and course is good.

Apparently a majority of members don't want guests taking up tee times.

Guest fees throughout town are borderline crazy now

I'm not a member anywhere and I have the best deal in town living inside the loop & getting to play Memorial for $40. One of my buddies is religious about getting up before 6 am and booking multiple tee times a week out there

Guest fees shouldn't remotely be a good deal. If I'm playing a private course with $20k initiation and probably $700-$1000 per month, I reasonably excited to way "overpay" for the privilege. It also reduces traffic beating up the course and creating crowded tee sheets.
