Does anyone have any drills that have worked well for them to help deal with the tendency to early extend? That's probably the biggest issue in my golf swing right now. I am working with an instructor, and we are getting there, but I am looking for ways to practice more intelligently. He gives me drills too, and I'm not looking for a magic bullet. Moreso, things that I can incorporate into my routine. I know not everything works the same for everyone, and I have a pretty good sense of when something is going to cause issues for me.

use a chair, alignment stick, something behind you butt. You can do it without a club, and swing, focus on turning, while keeping your butt on the chair.

This is the single most disruptive move in my swing that I've been fighting for the past 6 years. Unfortunately I learned my swing to early extend..70s and 80s.

Again, I can easily not early extend on the range but put me on the tee box and on the course, I'm going to early extend.

I've tried Tiger's exaggerated stay deep move as a part of the preshot routine but purposely trying to stay deep can cause me to hit fat too.

I slip into this every now and then.

My feel that clicked is feeling like my right heel stays down until contact. I put a wedge under my right heel, and stand on it with enough pressure that if lifts the shaft off the ground. Then, I do swings and don't let the club fall until the ball is gone.

If you REALLY try to do this drill and still early extend with a lot of heel pressure, you can. It works for me though, and gives me a feel on the course I can lean on when I get squirrelly

yes good drill. I saw something similar from jordan spieths coach online with a drill I sometimes use when playing that's similar. take your normal stance and flare your back foot out some, and also lift your toes up off the ground at the same time during your swing. I will see if I can find the video and post the link. It's helped me. https://www.tiktok.com/@cameronmccormickgolf/video/7263269794563099946

All great stuff. I'm working on using the chair or alignment stick currently. I like the duck foot drill and the wedge under the right heel.

I'm going to give those a shot. Will report back.
