My son is 17 and has been very casual about golf until now. He asked me if we could get him some 1:1 lessons and has some goals in mind for spending more time working on his game. I've been waiting for this - so I'm excited to help him.

I'm looking for someone to help him with swing mechanics, short game and I think a component of playing lessons would be good as well.

We live near Flower Mound / Argyle but willing to drive if needed. Any recommendations?

If he is casual about golf, I would start with a group lesson somewhere and progress. Usually they are pretty good about finding the one thing you should work on. See if he has the dedication to work on it and if so progress to more 1:1 lessons.

Most courses usually have some sort of group lesson plan.

Agree with your response - he has been casual about it until now. He's done summer camps and some group things. He has expressed an interest to have some more 1:1 coaching and goals for improving his game. So, I think we are ready for that step because he wants it now. Before, I was sort of doing most of the encouraging.

Maybe start with a 6 pack from golftec? I find seeing my swing helpful as well as what a correct position looks/feels like. That would give him plenty to work on unless he is a single digit already.

look at Zach Berhow at Bridlewood. excellent instructor with loads of junior success in the area.

Check out Leonard golf links in Fort Worth if that isn't too far from you. I've seen some juniors taking lessons there.

Talk to Kevics Golf Academy. In Keller near the Sam's. We started there and they have a great program.

We are out near Leonard's and that a brutal drive from Argyle. And instructors are really booked so I don't need more people taking my kids lessons hahaha

My kids take lessons there. The youth lessons are in the TCU golf team practice facility they have. Very nice setup.
