I was in the pro shop today and they're still claiming full course opens late Nov. and some of the par 3 opens mid month

I wonder if they 'signed off and accepted' the soil conditions prior to the install. They'd be fools not to have that clause.

I've heard sod company is eating the cost to redo everything that was messed up. No way it's done by November.

Not true. Typically, the responsibility falls to the golf course as soon as the sprinklers are turned on following the installation. With sprigs, this happens within minutes.

That's what I heard as well.

The project is way behind original schedule, including the Par 3 option. Mgmt is only giving vague updates. Most folk here feels like it will be well into 2025 before the Course re-opens for regular play.

How does all of this even happen?? I'd think a lot of superintendents studied at A&M but what do I know. Should have top notch conditions.

If the grass installers screwed up, it would have been obvious in the first month. I think Traditions is going to take this hickey.

Texas A&M is amazing at growing grass. Just see Kyle Field, Olsen Field, Ellis Field, etc. Damn near perfect.

Traditions doesn't seem to have leveraged Texas A&M's expertise.

I just can't help but think that the heat and the amount of reclaimed water used over the years has had a toxic effect. Cimarron Hills and Berry Creek here in Georgetown have both had issues even after replanting significant areas and greens. The subdivision courses seem to be the most adversely affected

What's the cost to the reputation and lost revenue? If it's as it seems I can't imagine selling many memberships.

Traditions is our single biggest recruiting issue in golf. Practice facility is great and all, but it's been a long time (if ever) since that course has been anywhere close to good compared to the schools we recruit against.

I left pre-Tanner when the super just wouldn't stop flooding the course with water or maintain a bunker. He's doing his best, but it's sure feels like an uphill battle to ever get that place where it should be.

When Tanner got there he just shut the water off. I've never heard more compliments and praises about the course from members after that. You'd lose balls in the fairway out there regularly.

Renovations are normal in country club settings. The first attempt they used sprigs and they take 2-3 months to mature when it goes correctly. The sprigging failed and now they are sodding the fairways to still try and meet the promised date of completion.

what facility in BCS has practice facilities for elite level players? Miramont? I haven't been there in quite a few years so honestly don't know but I've played on OU, Arkansas, SC, Alabama and Auburn practice facilities this year and I'd have a hard time putting anywhere in BCS on that level.

I'm pretty sure they've arranged some sort of privileges at Pebble Creek.

And a course in Waco if I remember correctly; that was very strange to read.

Buddies of mine at Pebble have a hard time getting tee times so I've never even tried yet.

Ive been reading your posts for years and appreciate them but that statement is like comparing Mars to the moon.


I'd like to say this is somewhat disingenuous; but it's way past that. I have the luxury of playing there a lot and the money between the 2 clubs isn't even close. Hell, the bunker makes more money than the course but you don't hear that said out loud. I was told the Jr membership is basically done. 3 years ago it was $35k and moved to $90k and essentially doesn't exist anymore. Normal full membership is about don't too and only the $300k is what is left.


College Station can't fund that so stop comparing.
