Scheffler, Morikawa, W. Clark and Schauffele. Interesting they left off Bryson considering how he's played in the majors this year.

It's just the top 4 per OWGR. They weren't chosen.

Yeah if they could've chosen, would have left Clark at home. Missed cuts at the Masters and PGA. Finished +12 at the Open.

Moving to LIV and not receiving World Rankings points from those events cost him.

They didn't have a choice. It is based of OWGR alone.

And they can thank the PGAT for colluding to ensuring players that should be going didn't receive points.

Sure, and blame the players who knew this was a possibility and chose guaranteed money instead.

They chose to go to a similar organization who was going through the process to get points that minor Asian tours get. If that's your stance, there's no point in discussing it.

My stance is that both share the blame. It is pretty obvious most of the LIV guys don't give a **** about OWGR.

Clark is 38th ranked on Datagolf. Lot of Americans playing better golf than him.

They wouldn't be trying to so hard to qualify and play in majors if that was the case. Including playing other tours as well to qualify. That seems like a naive fairytale point of view to justify how bad the PGAT has screwed everyone including their own players, USA golf, and of course LIV.

Could be a fun 2 day event, but where would you put it in the schedule. Most Olympic Trials are happening right about now. You don't want to have it too early and then have someone fall off in performance

I think a few people around here must work for LIV. No way yall can care that much about this.

I think some people around here insist on carrying water for the PGAT.

I see flaws with both organizations, and at the end of the day this squabble has left those of us who enjoy watching competitive golf with a lower quality product.

Hypocrites are a personal pet peeve for personal reasons.

I was all against golf splitting up until the PGAT started their smear campaign that was almost 100% accusing LIV of all the exact same things they had done or stood for. When reality is the extra bump in money shouldn't have mattered for individuals with 8 or 9 figure net worths unless they were happy to jump away from the leadership of the PGAT. If all the talking points about LIV are true, how bad does the PGAT leadership have to be for the people most concerned about image (because that's how they make their money) are willing to jump ship?!? So when people want to ignorantly blame the symptom instead of the disease, it just irks me. There's not a single thing the LIV has been accused of that the PGAT hasn't done or partnered with someone the exact same. Not a 1 has been posted since this has began.

So when educated individuals just sit on here and post the rhetoric as if parrots it just doesn't sit right with me.

I'm fine with the Olympic committee having a standard, just like other sports, but I'd like for them to leave it up to the individual countries on determining the team, like all other sports.

Then the USOC could host a one day, 18 hole Monday qualifier, where the top 4 make the team. This could easily be squeezed into the summer schedule.

You just don't want a rando playing well for a short period beat out your top guys

Like Pavon beating Scheffler last week

Agreed. Let the top20 ranked (new system) and let them play the qualifier.

I'm cool with that cause OWGR include something like 18 months worth of play

Not sure it's even possible at this point, but I think I would prefer if the Olympic golfers were true amateurs and the pros were excluded.

It's a good question. But I was thinking the guys who can't cash a check, even when playing in pro events. I would think the chance to play in the Olympics at that stage would be incredible, while I'm not entirely sure the pros are that enthralled with it. Understandably so, as their goals are majors-driven.

Bay Hill… Clark mashed the rough down behind his ball 4-5 times with his wedge (he wasn't penalized, but his ball moved about 1/2")… US Open he duffed a chip that was gonna roll back to his feet and he stomped his divot and another one as the ball was making its way back down the hill to him.

I know of those two.

Yep, those two plus these:

Pebble Beach earlier this year. On the 16th hole he got a free drop from a burrowing animal in some thick rough. Proceeded to stomp down his drop area for a couple minutes before taking the drop.

Players earlier this year. On the 12th hole, he was taking a drop by a drain and stomped down the area before taking the drop.

There was even a little mishap at the US Open that he won last year where he was using multiple clubs to pat down his lie behind the ball and the ball appeared to move.

It's worth noting that in all these incidences, rules officials looked into it and didn't find violation. Any of them in a vacuum are inconclusive if you're starting from the standpoint of giving him the benefit of the doubt. That's the standpoint I start from when something like this happens to a guy for the first/second time. My radar starts to go up when these incidences become a pattern with a player.

It was funny. At the US Open, in the brief moment I saw his chip start to roll back to him, I was like I guarantee he steps on his divot. Sure enough, he did.
Aggie369

I didn't see any of those

If all were reviewed or monitored and none were illegal it's tough to criticize

Stepping on your divot as the ball is rolling back to you seems smart though and I believe well within the rules
