Grips on irons

I just got a new set irons and put the same Golf Pride CP2 Wraps on them, standard size which i have played for a few years now. The problem is, and i compared to my old set, it feels like they put extra wraps on top section of my new grips. I already hit fades and it feels like with wider left hand grip its hurting my shot shape. Anyone know if i can take them to PGA store since they were gripped wrong and get new set?

With summer and sweat sometimes i feel like these get slippery. What are folks go to for grips, specific to irons and playing in this heat. Might switch to different grips if they will replace since they installed wrong.

I had CP2s and always felt they were too skinny (I know not your problem now) and I agree a little slick. Im in a set of Grip Drip now and they are tackier (maybe feel a little rougher) but I've really liked them so far.

I try and play gloveless as much as I can. Lamkin utx seems to have the most tack imo. I've heard good things about GP z grip chord although I haven't used them so no first hand experience.

I don't see why they would put in extra tape if it wasn't requested. Take a club and remove the grip to see how many wraps there are.

It could be all in your head.

I had multiple people check compared to my old ones, because i thought the same thing. Its definitely wider towards the top vs my old set. Other guys felt it too.

I play the mid size CP2 Wraps, some of it could be wear, I had 2 Vokeys regripped recently and they seemed bigger and were. Slightly. It's either a change in design or the new ones aren't as worn in the butt section yet.

Yeah, could just be how the grip was made. Agree with removing one you think definitely seems larger to check the wraps. Then that is your example to take to the store with the rest of the set to get a redo if they did add wraps for some reason. If it's the grip itself, probably SOL

My money is some deviation happened with the grip itself

Do your old grips go down lower on the shaft at all (that's what she said)? One set being pulled down a bit further can also make them seem thinner vs fatter.

I play gloveless and use z cords. They can be rough on the hands early in the season, but the provide the best grip when I sweat.

Happen to have a set of calipers...measure their diameter at top and bottom...or just a soft measuring tape to wrap around (like a tailor would use)?

I think it is possible that they pulled the grips off without removing the old tape - put new tape over old and put grip back on. Stripping off old tape is a PITA and if they were doing lots of jobs someone could have cut a corner. As noted, you could cut one grip off to confirm and then take them back with evidence in hand.

Not the most tacky, but more than gp tour cord. I do like that a quick wash with dish soap brings it back.
