I'm fine with the circumstances yes. Does that answer your question? This is the world we live in now and I am all for individuals having the power to make their own decisions. Golf will survive no matter what.

Fair enough. I appreciate the honesty. There should be no contracts, no loyalty, no consideration for anything beyond the present. Just everyone maximizing their personal financial gain in the moment without any consideration for anyone else. Sounds like a great recipe for longterm success.

Yeah for better or for worse, this is the new reality in all sports, and corporate America for that matter. In my mind, the only loyalty should be to yourself and your family. How that loyally shakes out is for the PGA/PIF and corporations to navigate. I'll watch these guys no matter what or who is competing but I'll never fault the players for the decisions they made.

The guys who were loyal got F'd on June 6. Rory was right- WTF did he just waste 12 months on? Those guys all got a huge wake up call that day. And yes, it does suck but so did the current PGAT. Outside of 4 tournaments who cares? If we have to go through another year or 2 of a split to eventually lead to all guys playing more together then it was worth it. And sorry rank and file but that's life.

Getting back to the original topic, pretty gutted for Keegan after watching that. Being a new dad and watching him go through that call with his wife knowing and his kids just wanting to play hit home for me.

They painted that picture in a pretty tough light for anyone trying to argue against Zach just picking his buddies. That said, I'd never leave JT at home.

Reviving the thread...has anyone seen the Joel Dahmen episode? Really makes you feel for the guy. Terrible 2023 (at least up to the point of filming). At one point he had missed something like 6 consecutive cuts. A couple of made cuts but low, low finishes sprinkled in. Good friend and caddy is considering jumping ship if he's unwilling to dedicate himself. It ends with them having a heart-to-heart on the flight home after another missed cut.

Fast-forward to yesterday...tied 11th at The Players for a cool $606K. That had to feel good.

letting down Keegan was hard to watch. Not that I'm some huge Keegan fan, but you could tell how much he wanted it, and was playing well, and with the clips of ZJ having breakfast/dinner with JT, Jordan and Rickie, talking about being picked and laughing about it does make it appear Keegan is just not in the "in" crowd.

I don't think ZJ is a bad guy and I think he took who he thought were the best 12 guys to go but he did not come off as some inspiring leader of men.

I agree, and honestly ZJ probably came off better than expected.

I think he picked the right guys for the team except Rick, but where he really went wrong was the Friday morning foursome pairings. I still can't believe he rolled out some of those pairings while sitting JT and Koepka.

On the flip side, I was really impressed with Luke Donald.

I was really impressed with Luke Donald's wife...and Keegan's too.

Wonder how odd it is for the Euro's wives to cheer against USA.

And most of our auto-qualifiers crapped the bed. That's really where we lost it. Not the 12th man.

Just heard an interview with Dahmen at the end of the NLU show from yesterday. He has been seeing someone, not necessarily and sports psychologist but some type of performance coach which has helped him. He said he felt really close in the Puerto Rico tournament so felt good coming in to this one.

On ZJ, agree with JCA1 in that he doesn't come off as some inspiring or great leader at all. I had no idea he was so close with Fowler, JT and Speith. That just looked like the "good ol boys club" after seeing him sharing a house with them in England then picking all 3. Burns was more the head scratcher pick to me, not JT.

Just looked at his rounds. Made 2 bogeys on Thursday to shoot 74, then only made 2 more bogeys over the next 54. Pretty cool.

Burns was added because he and Scottie are boys.

I'm still shocked that nearly all of our guys didn't play a competitive round of golf for over a month going in Rome. It's insane.
