If you like the design you're not going to get razzed for it by golf nuts. Your buddies who don't live the golf life might make fun of you, but all you have to do is not tell them. For me, it's a kind of personalization I get to have fun building.
I've been trying to build my clubhead cover game. I've paid $100 for a "limited edition" A&M /Reveille putter head cover, a Hawaii driver headcover, and a Blue Jack National 3 wood headcover. The only buyer's remorse was the BJN at first, but since I didn't pay for the round itself I felt ok about buying it. I'm still looking to fill the 3 hybrid headcover but I'm hoping to fill it by picking it up at a "prestigious and memorable" course I've never played that has a unique/stylish look to it. I'm fine on spending $100 on it, but it would need to check all of the boxes.
