Taylor Made Qi irons. Hit a variety at a fitting, and smoked those better than any others I tried. 3 weeks until delivery. Went 1 degree flat, and it was a world of difference from the old Titleist AP 1s
Being in TexAgs jail changes a man……..no, not really

If you're playing AP1's - you're a golfer.

I'm a Titleist guy, forever. I play AP2s.

Tell me why I should give TM a fitting? Genuinely curious what you think.

How does a particular equipment make one a golfer vs not? Is Titleist paying you for this endorsement?

I think you misunderstand. AP1s are the smallest club head Titleist makes - so him playing them tells me he's a low handicap. As am I. So I value his opinion. And the fact he switched has me curious.

Really? I always thought Ap1s were Game Improvement irons...more so than AP2. And I thought MBs were the smallest heads. For gamers and low caps. Learn something new everyday.

I have AP1s in the garage and they are an outstanding game improvement iron. Definitely large face irons. Broke 100 and 90 with AP1s. Went to the AP2s a couple years ago once I felt I had maxed out my abilities with AP1s. It took some time getting used to a smaller face.

Been looking real hard at the taylormade QI's. I'm not a buy new clubs every year kind of person, but my current taylomade r7's are about 15 years old. Got the itch to upgrade. Trying to talk myself into the QI's over the stealth(on sale now).

Yea, I think someone is confused. The AP1 is a HUGE shovel and a game improvement Iron. the CB and MB are their player irons, the AP2 is sort of in between.

EDIT: I see he replied to ignore....

Genuinely curious, how do you know when it is time to get new irons? And what is usually the improvement that people see?

I play a handful of times a year and am usually in high 70's low 80's. So far have not convinced myself on the investment considering the limited times I play. My current irons are Nike Pro Combos from the early 2000's. All that said, if new irons will make a difference I could start convincing the family that I need new clubs and therefor need to play more golf.

Also, what would be the general recommendations for which irons to start looking at considering my level?

I think it's hard to say what kind of improvement you would get. Especially if you only play a few times a year. If someone said they bought new irons 5 years ago, I don't know that you'd see much difference. 20 year old irons vs. what's coming out today probably gonna be more difference. To me the main difference seems like forgiveness on miss hits.
