I bought the higher quality option. It's nice, thick, double stitched almost everywhere. Design is good. Big enough to fit our clubs carts, which are these bigger canopy ones

We used one last year during the Texas 2-Man at High Meadow Ranch when it was like 45deg and raining... this cover plus a portable heater kept us nice and toasty

A hoodie. I started using one last year and it was much warmer than just a regular quarter-zip. I think it's because when I had it up around my head it kept the wind off my neck. Whatever it is, it's my go-to for cold days. Plus, you can still wear a golf hat.

1) Walking
2) 4-5 layers - all stretchy so you can stay warm without sacrificing range of motion, then easy to peel off as you get warmer
3) hand warmers - kept inside titleist mittens
4) knit cap
5) if it's sunny/partly sunny, dark clothing to absorb the heat

Warm weather rain, we're good to go. But below 50 and rain, not playing.

Wind and rain are both the wild cards. If it's reasonably calm and dry, I'll play in the 30s. Last weekend we were in the 40s, but it was sunny and calm and I peeled down to shorts for the back 9. But mix in a strong wind or precip, out unless it's a lot warmer.

A good storage location for your clubs

There are not many things in this world more miserable than playing golf in cold weather.

It's legal to rotate golf balls (same brand and model) every hole. Is there a specific prohibition against keeping them "artificially" warm? If so, keeping a ball in your pocket to rotate would be perfectly legal. What am I missing?

You can rotate balls and keep them in your pockets whereby your body gear will warm it some just make sure the pocket doesn't have an artificial warmer in it including something like a heated jacket where the pocket is warmed. I had to DQ a player who was using a hand warmer to keep his ball warmed. He didn't realize there was a rule against it.

I am not CPG but I agree he would have done it. He tried to DQ me in a Nassau that I thought was a friendly one. Boy did I learn something there.

Mine has the larger capacity and I can go for high for 6-7 hours but I rarely do because it gets too warm because I frequently have a full light jacket over it. These vest are a great winter accessory for all aspects of life including golf.

Pants & windbreaker if 35-50*… probably won't play if colder than that.
