Has anyone tried out the current generation of VR golf apps like Golf+ on an Oculus (aka Meta) Quest headset? Curious about the experience.

Hey! Love seeing this get posted... I work for GOLF+ and want to help get some more Ags in the game. I'd like to give out game keys to anyone interested in giving it a shot. Also happy to answer any questions. With the Quest 3 just coming out a few weeks ago it's a great time to jump in, especially with all the fun stuff we have planned for 2024.
Have you tried the physics v2 yet? Just came out in a recent update. Pretty soon it will be the only option but for now you have to enable it within the settings menu in-game.Mr.Bond said:

Most notably it enables a lot more options with your short game with much more realistic ball flight and spin. The physics model was created with hundreds of thousands of real world shots, and you can tinker a bit more with the advanced settings to really get dialed in.

Thanks for joining the thread! Are there any features planned that will require a Quest 3 headset? Gotta get my Santa list written down.
One thing I haven't seen mentioned in reviews or videos is how the physics model handles common swing faults like casting and swaying. How does the model know if your swing would produce a fat or thin shot IRL?

I am debating getting a VR system for my home/kids. Is the new quest 3 worth price vs quest 2?
Also, when looking at golf+ is there a package somewhere that comes with the club controller?
Thanks for the help!

This looks really cool. You're eventually going to send simulators the way of the Blockbuster.

I have a Q2 and the club attachment you referenced. I do have fun playing and used to play a lot more, but I feel like it honestly hurts my real golf game a bit. I think any simulator does and I don't know if that's avoidable. I'd still recommend it, but as long as you see it as fun and not an improvement tool. I bought it as both and have resigned to the idea that it's just for fun and not much improvement to be had there. I've also accidentally destroyed my dogs a few times accidentally, so gotta close them out of the room now.

Great, now I need to break out my son's Meta that we got him in March and start playing this game again!
I also agree with zgolfz85, it doesn't help your golf game. But it is fun, and I never get to play golf much now anyway, so at least it's something.

Awesome - I just sent you a PM. I haven't played Golf+ in probably 3-4 months so it may be fun to play some. Also; since my son just got Madden 24, I probably have free rein of the oculus for a while.

Love this game and I've been extremely impressed by the level of development. Having said that, I'm bummed that Pro Putt was removed. I didn't play it often, but I really enjoyed it.
Thanks for the response. I appreciate the explanation and I totally understand. Walkabout really does a great job of filling the mini-golf need and they stay on top of development as well. I guess this is just part of the maturation process. Keep up the great work on GOLF+!hot dog said:Quote:

Sunsetting Pro Putt was a tough decision that definitely wasn't taken lightly, especially since that's what kickstarted the business and really helped it grow to what it is today. Basically boiled down to it being prohibitively expensive to maintain. Being built within an old system, new OS updates would often lead to things breaking and took too much away from the development of the main game. We'd like to have a course creator in the future, and we're hoping that the OG Pro Putt courses can come back to life with the same putting mechanics as GOLF+ as the community rebuilds their favorites.

With my son, age 6, wanting one now. Black Friday is right around the corner and i am seeing adds for Quest 2 bundles going on sale. So might start with that and see the use we get. I for sure plan on getting Golf+ for me more than him.
With such a lower price tag its hard not to go that way for me vs Quest 3. It will strictly be for gaming most likely.

We just dropped the Kapalua Plantation course as well! The approach shot on #18 is my favorite shot in the game right now. Here's the view off of #1:
Happy to give out some game keys to everyone that just snagged a headset for Christmas.
