I can't find anything recent about him. What are his next plans? Korn Ferry, I assume, once the new season starts? If he has a web page somewhere, please point it out for me. Google came up with nothing for me.

He will play korn ferry and will likely get a few sponsor exemptions on pgat. Gotta perform at the right time. Korn Ferry is a bombers tour and birdie fest...let's see how he does

I believe Sam has automatically advanced to Final Tour Card rounds in Dec. in Florida. Pre-qualifying and Qualifying started a week or 2 ago all over country. Limited number advance each week over about 5 weeks;

He has also earned Korn Ferry card, but finishing top 5 and ties in December is the goal to get '24 PGA Tour Card. The auto advancing is a big deal; some will have played 4 qualifiers by then, I think.

Sam finished at -3 for the opening round .

As did Ryan Palmer at -3.

Cam Champ at -5

Tied for 43. Not bad. If he could have held on at -4 those last 3 holes he would have been at 27.

Tied at -4 which is also the cut line. Palmer and Champ having decent tournament so far.

Still hasn't figured out his putter. It's going to be a big barrier between him and the next level.

Almost assuredly will be on KFT grinding this year. It's a wedge and putting tour. Sam is good with wedges but struggles putting. Should be a good time to clean that up and gear up for tour next year.

Gotta have a long ball off the tee to use that wedge on KFT

Looking at his stats, Sam is long enough to compete on the PGA Tour. Indeed, driving is his strong suit, and he's only losing a fraction of a stroke putting. It's his approach play and short game where he's losing the most strokes. These stats are for the season, not for this one tournament.

That's not to say, of course, that he couldn't benefit from becoming a much better putter.

And, just flip all that on its head, this week he was weak in driving, actually gained over a stroke per round each in putting and and the short game, but lost strokes off the tee and, especially, with his approach shots.

In my own experience using strokes gained, the day-to-day numbers tell you where you sucked today, but can be heavily influenced by 1-2 shots (where you knowingly took a risk trying to carry water instead of laying up and hit a good shot where a very good shot was needed, and suddenly your long approach strokes gained looks horrible). Putting stats are especially prone to volatility round-to-round. It's your stats over 8-10 rounds (at least) that tell you where you need to work with a coach.
