If you are a fan of golden era golf architecture, The LIDO at Sand Valley is wonderful and well worth a trip to Wisconsin. The other courses (Sand Valley and Mammoth Dunes) are great as well. Sedge Valley is going to be an amazing course too when it opens next year. Back to the LIDO ----

Tom Doak and Peter Flory (3D reproduction specialist) have recreated The LIDO (the lost Long Island course) in amazing detail. All of your favorite template holes are present and the 18th hole was a 1914 British Country Life magazine contest winner hole designed by a then obscure designer named Dr. Alister MacKenzie. He later did a few courses that are pretty good

The course is still a bit immature and will look even better when the fescue rough grows in to knee height.

There are a few you tube videos on the Lido that are worth watching.

Great to hear it lives up to the hype.

I think Wisconsin might be our trip next year.

I was there in May and will definitely return. The Sand Valley and Mammoth Dunes courses are incredible. Such a spectacular place for golf. Throw in a round at Erin Hills and you've got a great trip.

I'll be there next May and hoping Sedge Valley is fully open. My extra course on the the trip is Lawsonia Links.

We've got Wisconsin pegged for the 2025 golf trip. Can't wait to check out the Lido.

We're going to be there May 3-6 next year. I had been waiting to schedule this trip until Lido opened. I'm more excited for it than SV, Mammoth or Sedge. I'm a golf architecture nerd and have been tracking Lido for a while.

Any pics for us?

Couple of good podcasts from The Fried Egg and I think No Laying Up has a video on the restoration.

Unfortunately, based on some posts I've seen on other forums its not sounding promising for Sedge to be open by the start of the season next year. Here is response someone received from when they asked:

Also, I did notice in the latest issue of Golf Magazine they released their Top 100 Courses in the World, which is both public and private. All the regulars are on there, but the Lido did come in at #68, which is quite high considering its only been open for a couple months. I'm sure thats a bit inflated for a number of reasons, but its listed in good company.

Yes I had heard it would not be open, bummed about that. I have since booked a round at Erin Hills the day it opens for the season

We're going to play Mammoth a 2nd time. Trying to convince my group to take the latest flight out of Chicago on our last day so we have time to stop at Lawsonia on the way back to the airport.

I hope you can talk them into the later flight.

Lawsonia Links is one of the best public courses in America and should not be missed.

The architecture at Lawsonia is amazing.
