Looking at getting a new golf bag this weekend due to my current cart bag falling apart, and not standing up due to age/too much crap in it.

Things to consider:
1. I am a hack, I enjoy golf for company, beer, and cigars. If I play well, I enjoy it better but I am not going to grind over a 10ft putt, I am going to give my best run and hope that I am off the green in two putts.
2. I am fat, not likely going to walk a course while carrying, especially regularly, may do an old man cart, but I am only 38, so not really close to that
3. I carry a bunch of crap (speaker, rangefinder, balls, tees, towels, telescopic ball reachy thingamahbob, 2-3 extra clubs, cigar travel case, cigar holder, a few koozies, sunscreen, bug spray.... Like I said, a bunch of crap
4. Don't mind going to the range to burn some time, but HATE when my bag falls over, I feel like I look like a gatdame rookie out there (they realize I am just a hack after I take a few swings)


Here's the thing, talk me out of a Sun Mountain C130S. I plan to go to PGA Superstore tomorrow to put my hands on different styles and choose one then. Really leaning towards something with a stand, but if something is more durable/reliable to maintain its upright-ness, I am all ears.

Not looking to spend too much more than the $300 already mentally committed to spend with the C130S

I share almost all the same 'considerations' but went with a carry bag due to weight. When I get my cart back and can leave my clubs on the cart again, it'll be easier to go back to a cart bag. The c130s meets those criteria. Consider weight if traveling with bag and pick a lighter one.

Being a bad golfer myself, I view it as the more stuff I have to make my round or time on the course enjoyable is always worth it. I'm still trying to break a legit 100, but if I hate my equipment and setup it will cause me to not even go out and play.

I just bought the Bag Boy brand about 2 months ago. I really like it. I can't speak for the longevity of it, but it seems like it's built as well as the big name brands.

Can't go wrong with the "C 130 rolling down the strip". My fav bag of all time.

I love a good cart bag. When I walk I have a push cart, so extra weight is no bother. Love the extra room and bells and whistles. I usually replace every 4-5
years

Sun Mountain C130 is the way.

I remember buying 2 bags from myrtle beach PGA super store in 2020. They were tour edge light carry bag and a cart bag on closeout for $59.99 each. WTF happened to golf bag price? Any decent bag is over $250..

I just picked up a Vessel Lux cart bag 14way today. I had seen them online and a couple times in person at Edwin Watts, but always the 7way. I was torn between the Sun Mountain Maverik and the Vessel Lux 7way, but after I stumbled (literally) the 14 way in an EW today and put two clubs in the largest slot (I will have 15, yes I know after I get fit for a Titleist U-iron soon) I knew that was the solution. It just happened to be in a color I liked and was the latest version with a couple of new changes that I had seen only on the website.

Now, they all have a flaw. Not a fan of the Vessel umbrella retention "bungee" cord at the top with the Texas heat, but they have a pocket sleeve and loop heavy cordura tip holder at the bottom, so it's a draw there. However, for the extra =/- $150 for the layout, slimness for a cart bag, and waterproof/leather like material, it was a no brainer at least for me. Others may have other needs/wants.

Yeah it costs a bit more, but this bag should last a lot longer than today's materials with other bags overall and wash out nicely in the long term.
