I don't believe he's qualified for the Open. And I don't believe he's playing the Scottish or the John Deer.
That means there's only 2 non-elevated tournaments left. He'd probably have to be top 5 in both to qualify for next season on the PGAT.
Assuming that doesn't happen. He's go the Korn Ferry next year looking to qualify.

Sam is falling apart today. About to drop another shot to +3 on the day. Not even the weekend yet so can't say it was being physically tired. He is still learning, but man he had such a great opportunity in front of him after his first round, and the course is surrendering a ton of birdies.
EDIT: Yikes... 3 putts for double. In big danger of missing a cut after being in a great position after round 1.

I have been watching Sam pretty closely the last few months in his tour events and if I had to say my big takeaways of where he needs to improve it would be...
1) Putting. Misses way too many (Tour Level) 5-10 footers for birdie
2) Leaves himself quite a bit 20 footers and long putts from shots inside 100
3) Could use 10-20 more yards off tee. On this blow up par 5 today, he had 280 out while his partners had only 250. That is a big difference in terms of a par 5.

Geez sam…everyone going low again today and he lays an absolute egg. Sad to see, will probably miss another cut, but hopefully he's learning every step of the way

He can probably play in the Barbasol and Barracuda tournaments if he wants. The field is typically terrible since both are during the Scottish Open and Open Championship, so he could probably get a sponsor exemption.Quote:

For those that want to watch him... Hole 15 is a featured hole. But in the past they've ended the stream before all groups are through and it ends at 5pm

Good lag. Should get to -4. Should be good to make the cut, but get to -5 and it is a forsure thing. Frustrating we are even talking about making cut after his round yesterday.
Get to -4 with a birdie. Needs one more for breathing room. And of course the featured hole broadcast ends before everyone had even gone through....
Have to make hay on 16 and 17 and par 18 to have a shot at a top 25 for the tournament.

My understanding was that you received a two-year exemption for a regular tournament win, so I guess that's for the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 seasons since he won in 2021. But he did win in the 2020-2021 season, so you would think the first year of the exemption would be 2021-2022 and he would expire after this season if he wasn't in the top 125.
