Headed there in late July. Any recommendations on scenic courses? Will travel ~ 1hour or so.

been doing annual golf trip with buddies for years. We've done park city probably 5 times and going again this year. Never played in July but the muni's out there are NOT your typical muni. at least that's the way it is in september.
the only place we played in salt lake itself was thanksgiving point. That was the first year. It was decent but haven't gone back since.
everything else out in park city. the clubs we've played are Glenwild, Promontory, and Victory Ranch. If you are a member at a club or have some high falutin friends see if they can get you on there. I've played some killer clubs around the US and Victory Ranch is in my top 3 (Congaree and Oakmont are the other 2).
for public courses we like and always hit Soldier Hollow and Wasatch Mountain both out near midway

Let me know what you find up there? I will be in the area August 10-12 for a competition.

I would recommend Soldier Hollow (Gold Course) or Thanksgiving Point. Soldier Hollow Gold is a public course with exceptional views and plenty of elevation. Thanksgiving Point is a bit more upscale with challenging greens, unfortunately the bunkers (of which there are plenty) need a lot of work. Played both of these with my son and had a very enjoyable day of golf both times.

Played the links at sleepy ridge in Orem a few years ago. Beautiful course. Epic mountain backdrops.

Didn't play Cedar Hills, but drove by it and it looked amazing. Mix of mountain and desert golf. Kinda cool.

Did you have high falutin friends or do they let the public play? Heading to Park City next month and looking at where to play.

Those were all bc of buddies...a couple are members at high end clubs that get their pros to call in favors for them. And a couple that run elbows with that level of crowd.

If you have time and can drive out I'd highly recommend soldier hollow of the public courses.

Yeah, I did the math and it looks like the nicer ones are fully private. We're looking into Soldier Hollow or the Wasatch courses.

We're doing our trip out there again this year. Not able to get on some of the privates bc of member guest events and one of them wanted $400 for the round plus caddie. We played it enough to know not worth it...maybe $200. So we are doing soldier hollow gold, red ledges 2 rounds, hobble creek 27 holes then Wasatch mountain.
Couple new places for us so we'll see how it goes but just looking forward to some mountain golf!

How'd you get into Red Ledges?

And did you book Wasatch already? I heard it was 10 days out.

Red Ledges....thanks to aforementioned high falutin' friends. I'm the friend with the boat...they're the friends that with the country club memberships!!

Wasatch....just call the pro shop. There is typically an additional fee to book in advance but it's low...like $10 or $20. Since we're traveling that far, spending enough already, and want to get our schedule locked then the additional fee is peanuts and a no brainer

sure thing....another word of advice we picked up early on when we started this is when you are deciding where to play when traveling....ALWAYS ALWAYS call and ask what maintnenance they have planned around the time you will be there.
Last thing you want to do is drag clubs and find out they punched right before you got there.

Wasatch Mountain was awesome!
Incredible views on every hole and some part 5's going downhill that just go on forever.
