Messed mine up pretty bad hitting a hidden rock under some tall grass. So I'm looking to replace my current Cleveland's with something new. I just didn't realize how expensive some of these wedges were now. I've never been a big fan of the Callaway's or Titleist for some reason. But was looking at PXG, Sub 70, Cleveland, and TaylorMade.

Anyone play other wedges out there at a decent price? I used the MyGolfSpy 22 wedge report to identify PXG as a top wedge but they are still $170. At least the Sub70 is only $125. Anyone have a PXG promo code?

I'm thinking about doing the same thing. I have Mizuno wedges and like them. But I've had them for several years and think it's time to try something new. I've always bought used wedges and would like to actually buy some new ones.

My buddy really likes his Calloway Jaws. I haven't hit them though, so I can't say much about them.

I've tried them all over the past few years and it's either Vokey or Mizuno for me.

I play Cleveland CBX and really like them. Very good wedges that are forgiving and designed to blend in well with cavity back sets, and they're not expensive.

Played Cleveland for years, switched to Titleist, happy with the change.

Has anyone played the Edison wedges? I tend to balloon my wedges, so their claims have always intrigued me.

Seems like the lead guy is an Aggie engineer, too, if I remember correctly.

I've been thinking about going with Vokey wedges. They've always been a solid wedge.

Then again, my Mizunos aren't bad, I'm just changing to change.

I have the full face Jaws and I like them. You can also get a good deal on them from the preowned callaway site. Another brand making some commotion is Takomo

PXG, Miura, 14, Vokey, Callaway, Cleveland

In that order
God,....I really hate the sips!

I've been playing the Taylormade hi-toes for 3 sets in a row now. Bought analogous vokeys in between once and traded them in pretty quickly. Something about them suits my eye.

I just ordered an Edison 55* that came in last night. Been playing Vokey's a couple years, but read about these Edison wedges and decided to give one a try to see if the forgiveness and lower launch could help my short game out.

I'll keep you posted on how I like it.

I'm a huge proponent of wedges as a part of the set thought for the consistency. Especially with 42-45 degree PW, now golfers need to add 3 to 4 additional wedges in the bag while 4-7 irons are virtually compressed between 20-29 degrees.

The wedge industry sure did creep up on us during the past 20 years didn't it. Sure, customized grind and bounce are nice but for me, I just need my LW with certain grind and bounce while the rest of the wedges can match my iron set.

Some jackass in the 80s popularized 60 and 64 degree LW with no bounce...might have been Tom Watson. I could hit that 64 degree Ram LW 230 yards... 2 feet off the ground bladed. Unintentionally when I just needed 10 yard flop.

TLDR

I like Cleveland CBX because it's big and is pseudo CB. And I shank Vokeys. Im not good enough or consistent enough to play mucleback blades so definitely can't work them Vokeys either.

All name brand wedges are good. Try and find some used at Golf Galaxy or some web site. No reason to pay for new at close to $140 to 170.

I have some new top brand wedges still in the plastic sleeve. I still use a Vokey, Ping, Cleveland, and Taylor Made. All good.
It is the golfer that matters. Use the bounce.

I like the sub70 286's. I have the 58, 54 and 50. All the same length. Tried the full face version but didn't like them as much.

I think wedges are like putters. A lot depends on your eye and your swing for what works best. I am a vokey guy but I don't think they are for everyone.

Ordered some blue mizunos and they will be here tomorrow. I liked the color the best and it came in the loft/bounce combos that works for me. Now I have bounce from 14 to 4!

I'm a solid golfer, about a 3 handicap and I'm embarrassed to say that I still don't understand bounce. Can someone explain it to me like I'm 5?

From my understanding, bounce allows a wedge to dig into the ground. The higher the bounce, the better for softer surfaces because it will bounce off hard ground and prevent the front edge from hitting the ground. So I went with high bounce on my lower wedge based on how I play. I use it greenside a ton and normally it's soft around greens cause of over-watering or I'm in the fluffy stuff. Then my 62 has 4 bounce which allows for me to dig under when I need to flop it and I'm super comfortable with that shot out of the sand.

I have no idea why because I'm not good enough but I have full faith in that club out of a bunker. One of the stronger parts of my game. Doesn't matter hard or soft if it's greenside.

Have you ever skipped a rock across a pond? Have you noticed that rocks skip better when you throw them at an angle to the surface of the water? That's bounce.

I've also never understood the bounce because if you are picking it or hitting a little fat, wouldn't the bounce cause you to then thin it? Bouncing up off the ground and leading to a blade?

If you are hitting the ball first, why does it matter at all?

Try out the new Taylor Made MG4's. The MG line has won mygolfspy's wedge of the year the last 3 years in a row.

If I hadn't jsut bought the new Clevelands during the summer I would have gone for the MG4's.

I never heard that term before..."Use the Bounce". 15 Handicap ....but struggle with bunker shots. So the last 2 weeks I'm thinking "Use The Bounce". Incredible improvement! 90% of my Bunker shots are nice....Occasionally fly one...but much less than before. Even my shots from the grass are better. Ping Glide 3.0. 56/12.

Best tip I've picked up in a long time. If we ever meet up, the beer is on me.

Many years ago I had a need for new wedges. I read up, thought i knew what i wanted, but then went and tried them out. I quickly found that how they felt in my hands was the biggest factor - weight and how they swung made all the difference. I went to buy vokeys but came away with Callaway (X Tour, at the time) and I've been loyal Callaway wedges ever since.

Just switched from Miura wedges to Taylormade MG3 Hi-Toe wedges late last year and love them.

Miura's were nice but like you, Taylormade's suit my eye.
