Alright, enough of the feel good stories.

Let's talk about the LIV players in the doc. Did that change anyone's perceptions on the new league?

My thoughts: Beyond a cash grab (nothing wrong with that either. These dudes have a family to support and if they feel like their skills are slipping to compete in the PGA then it's a wise decision) I think its a good move for them. From a fan of the game and fan point of view, you hate to see it right? Our beloved PGA tour is sacred. But from a player of the game in the grind of things, I don't see anything wrong with the choice of going LIV.

Well, so all things being equal, more money for less work is a no brainer, but let's not forget the huge elephant in the room.

That money is coming from one of the most awful human rights nations in the world. I mean, I don't want this to turn political, but it's just unavoidable regarding this.

Let's also not forget that there are some very tight restrictions on the LIV golfers about what they can talk about and even restrictions on what they can put on their cloths, etc.

What are your thoughts on the PGA tour and China? Or Nike and china?

or also his thoughts that many of the sponsors of PGAT and LPGAT directly work with the Saudi govt?

No doubt there is some hypocrisy on some level, but it all comes down to if you are comfortable with taking money directly from the Saudi Royal family.

So as long as it's funneled through the pga who gets a cut first it's all good.

We give money to all types of bad people and governments for strategic regional influence. I've experienced the insanity first hand

While I agree we should all try to do things that reduce the amount of hypocrisy in all facets of our lives and business, it's impossible to do that 100%, but you do have to admit it's not the same thing as taking money DIRECTLY from SA. I mean absolutely zero veneer.

It's hypocrisy on every level.

Just like so many soccer players taking a knee in 2020/21 for 'racism' and 'human rights' or wearing the pride flag, happy to play in Qatar in the 2022 WC and take their payouts. Same hypocrites are all on board with the climate change agenda, but didn't say squat about the open air stadiums in Qatar being fulling air conditioned in the outside space (yes, they blew cold air into the open air stadiums for the fans).

Just so I'm clear, you have $70 million in career earnings and will take the $ from the crown Prince?

Not what I said.

I'm simply pointing out people all over the world are hypocrites when it comes to payday.

Don't want to derail into politics so I'll stop now.

I felt a bit bad for Morikawa for having to share an episode with Finau and his great story. You have Finau going thru his background, his family and especially his mom, that great setup his dad did for them with no money where you can still see garage door dents, and winning back to back events.

Then here is poor Morikawa getting a sliver of the episode during which he's mostly just getting sweated by a bunch of marketing and fashion ****nuts pressuring him to wear an ugly orange shirt with green pants as he tactfully tries to say no.

That shirt and pant combo was hideous. Glad he said no. Like he suggested with a white shirt probably would look good

We get it already.

SA = bad
CCP = good

Can we get back to the thread now?

As far as "bad guys", Poulter came off well. Neutral on DJ (the guy is just boring and that's okay), but in both cases they are clearly just taking the money which doesn't bother me. Brooks is the only dnozzle so far

Dahmen and Finau are the MVPs thru what I've watched. I also really liked JT's dad. Balancing dad vs coach and his comments about how he is with his kids really hit home

I was surprised I actually liked Poulter. Him being self aware about how he dressed was pretty great. I wish they would have followed someone who was missing a bunch of cuts and showed how they travel and where they stayed.

It's also not lost that DJ and Poulter had the courtesy to do post-LIV interviews for the show, while seems pretty clear that Brooks cut it all off.

I hope Ricki Fowler wins a major. Brings a lot of positive attention to the golf world.

Had a lot of short snippets during Full Swing.

I think he was going to be a producer of the series, then there was some conflict of interest stuff and he had to step back from the position.

Theegala was probably a rookie with no guarantees when he had to buy a house.

No guarantee he would perform like he has. Now that he isn't in danger of losing his tour card anytime soon, maybe he upgrades. Maybe he also likes keeping it simple for as often as he's away from home.

Hard to believe he's already cleared $6 million in career earnings.

I met his parents at St Jude tourney. His dad is awesome and sees every shot he takes on tour.

I'm cashing that check without hesitation.

I do not understand how taking the Saudi's money is bad, considering the USA has written a giant portion of the checks that have been deposited into their treasury, and has spent a mountain of money defending them militarily. I don't say this from an ivory tower either, as a child of the Permian Basin, I'd be far better off financially if the house of Saud didn't have the oil reserves they have.

I Hear ya. I fully admit there is hypocricy everwhere on this deal.

I don't think I would do it, but I really don't know until I was faced with the situation.

After reading some of the Brooks comments on here I was expecting much worse from what I saw. I didn't see really anything bad at all. It was a guy who was mentally struggling with his game wondering if he'd ever be back on top. And he wasn't just a one-off major winner...he was absolutely owning majors for 3+ years...if he wasn't winning he was always in the hunt.

Poulter came off pretty solid as well. I wonder if his kid (U of Florida player) will end up being tour-level or not.

I think I'm about to start ep 4. will knock the rest out tonight.

IMO JT/Spieth's was the worst episode so far. Maybe because I know both of their stories so well, but there's also not a lot to them either...or they just kept everything at arm's length in the episode.

As to Tony Finau, at last years Master I had my son, DIL and grandson with me. Grandson was in the autograph corral by the practice area getting as many autographs as he could. DJ walked by and announced to the kids that he would be back after his round. He never appeared again.

Tony signed several times then said he had to get to the first tee but that he would be back after his round. Tony did in fact come back and signed every kids cap, card, etc and had his picture made with every person who wanted it. He is obviously a great guy.

Spieth was really good about signing autographs. The second most congenial player and easy to approach, after Tony, was Jon Rahm. He spent a lot of time with the kids and bent down for a lot of pictures.

Welp, thanks to a great round yesterday he T-6th and took home $700K under the new higher-payout policy instituted by the PGA. He just needs to hire someone to find him some new Richie-Rich digs while he stays on the driving range.

Yeah he's great. Although it infuriates me just like his caddie/family that he so quickly will be self deprecating. It absolutely fuels worse results than he's capable of achieving.

Finished up last night and my big takeaways were

Brooks is a biatch. He's a mental midget and it's all between the ears. I think of all the LIV guys he may be the first to regret it or regret it the most. I think his big struggles were just a blip on the radar and LIV is a bit of knee jerk reaction.

Poulter is a cool dude. Always been a fan of his and glad to see him get some screen time.

I like how they hammered home the difficulty of winning on tour. Really puts the greats into prospective and how absolutely ridiculous it is for even a guy like DJ to have 24 wins much less Tiger and his 82.

I wish they would've done a better job of not bouncing around and backtracking so much. I get they kinda need to to a cretain degree but going back to the WM or the PGA after 4-5 episodes was a bit annoying.

We all know how these guys congregate and know each other but it was interesting to see them all sitting around before or after talking about their rounds or all together in the same gym in between their rounds.
