Ben Silverman and Aaron Rodgers win the pro am at -26 through 3 rounds.
Pro Ben Silverman misses the cut - he does make 13 birdies over 3 rounds though.
So, Aaron Rodgers (a 3.8 index in Wisconsin - Green Bay CC I might add ) is a 10 handicap for the tournament.
An average legit 10 handicap only makes about 6-7 pars a round. Handicap determined by BEST 8 of the last 20 scores.
so, on the 41 holes remaining for Aaron to help the team (Aaron making a net birdie doesn't help if the pro makes birdie too) he makes 13 birdies or more likely net birdies on his stroke holes. AND makes par or net par or better on the 12 holes where the pro makes bogey or worse. i.e. comes through in the clutch on 20-25 of 41 holes. Could be some overlap - hard to know exactly without Aaron's marked scorecard.
Statistically highly unlikely for a 10 handicap - possibly for a 4 handicap with length and a decent short game (AKA Aaron Rodgers)
I could not find Aaron's scorecard to dig deeper and see exactly where he was getting pops but I think you get the premise of the argument.
What says the golf zoo?
Blatant Sandbagging or All Pro Ham & Egg ?
Can a true 10 handicap pull this off ?
