Looking to do a trip there next May timeframe. Is the best way to go to book through the lodge directly, or are there better ways to find deals for a group of ~8? Also, try to play all the courses or just focus on a couple?

Interested to see others chime in. Guy at my work is looking to put together the same trip for May of next year as well.

We've been several times w both family and golf group. We've never found a "deal" in peak season. Book thru the resort early, and get ur pick of accommodations., tee times and dinner reservations. U can save some money in the shoulder seasons… but u risk weather. No worth it imo, did it once and about froze at thanksgiving!!

It's expensive. However, it's a great experience and first rate resort.

Are you staying on the property or off property? Will make a big difference. Guests on property can make tee times when they book and get discounted rates.

I played Paynes Valley and Ozarks National in May but we didn't stay there. I just made sure I was on early in the AM thirty days out and had no problems. That was just for a twosome though.

Look into the cabins overlooking the 19th hole at Paynes Valley. They are tailor made for guys golf trips.

Might be the same trip! Had a buddy ask if I wanted to join a group of others. So if your dates are 5/24-28, we may become golf buddies.

I think the plan is to get a cabin on site. I've had better luck in the past with some 3rd parties than direct booking, so was curious if others had a similar experience with Big Cedar.

Not much to add but played buffalo ridge last summer and damn that entire place is nice and first rate experience. Would love to go back and play the other courses one day with a good group of guys.

Yep. I believe this is the same trip.

Still unsure if I'm going.

Count me in, that's two.
I have '23 golf planned already but anybody else want to have a Texags May '24 trip to Big Cedar let's do it.

I played Payne's Valley on Monday. My thoughts on it are:

  • Very expensive!
  • Probably the best conditioned course that I have ever played
  • Stunning scenery around the course
  • The fairways are very wide. The only ball that I lost was in a water hazard.
  • The greens are relatively tame. There are a few big humps, but they are not overly fast.
  • Enjoyed it would go back again once the bank account recovers!

Yeah, but did you buy some merch? Couldn't resist the "19" hat for $50 when I was there.

there are some threads on this place. went last year, no deals to be found, its just expensive. Great place, we had a group of 10 and had five two man cabins on the same road by each other. Really cool place, but the transportation isn't quite as refined as bandon dunes. We waited on shuttles a lot. It was annoying. The courses are great, buffalo and national are the two best imho. payne's is cool, and behind 18 is a six flags over the top ending, but otherwise wasn't a super memorable course for me. there aren't many trees and I dunno, it just didn't do it for me like the other two. the par 3 top of the rock is cool, if overdone, but still very cool. have fun

No, I didn't. The wife was with me and we were in a hurry to get to a show after the round, so didn't have the time to shop. Probably, saved me $50!
