Team 1: 12, 16, 25
Team 2: 12, 15, 18
Team 3: 15, 15, 20, 30

Seems pretty even? I've only played with 3 of these guys before. So don't have a good feel. It's just a friendly work get together for $25/man.

I'm the 12 on Team 1. The 12 on team 2 is a shorter hitter than me but makes fewer big mistakes. The 16 on my team can crank drives 340 but his irons are pretty often chunked.

The last team getting 4 rolls at every putt is an advantage. Their 20 handicap has a real nice looking full swing but he's new to the game and his touch isn't there yet in scoring range.

Not all handicaps are created equal in a scramble.

One guy at my club is a 9…who I've seen shoot par several times this year. Doesn't post rounds when he allows himself to fluff a lie, or give himself a putt inside the grip. Lots of ways to control what scores you post I guess

Whoever has the most liberal application of the rules, is usually who wins scrambles

not sure it matters much, i'd probably just group people with who they know/have the most fun with.

but only knowing what you've said, i'd put the long-hitting 16 on Team 3 to give them some shorter approaches.

I think all teams have the potential to finish top 3.

Team 2, the 18 over the 25 is a pretty good advantage.

The 3rd team will get almost zero help from their 30.

Well....

Actually....

You don't take each handicap, add it up and divide by 4... That assumes individual stroke play... This is a team event.

Handicap each team as follows: 20% of the A-player's handicap, plus 15% of the B, 10% of the C and 5% of the D. Add the results, round off the total to a whole number and that is the team's handicap.

Team 2 will smoke everyone!

Unless the 30 can putt halfway decent.

As he said, the extra put on every hole helps a lot.

If nothing else, you let that guy putt first every time to get the line for the other three.

I've seen bad golfers make a lot of putts in scrambles -- no pressure, and someone reads it for them.

Team 3 had their 30 handicapper back out. Replaced him for 10 holes with an 8. They shot 4 under with the ringer and even after he left.

Team 2 shot 1 under.

Team 1 shot even. The 16 on my team wouldn't have broke 100 today and the 25 handicap guy was more like a no handicap. Lots of swings and misses, tops, first time on a golf course stuff.

We had fun except the round lasted 6 hours. And I played my best golf ever probably and didn't get to score a round.

Congrats on being the first guy to play a scramble without cheating and turning in a real score.

I played in a Knights Of Columbus tournament where a team turned in a +11. We were like WTF until we realized that Father Bob was on the team. Everyone joked that it was the only honest score on the board.

I'll take the 4 man. None of the golfers seem like ringers soo give me the extra shot.

I blue starred you BUT I had a coworker wh had played baseball at Michigan (with Barry Larkin) and the 2-3 years in the minors. He really could do this. 14 drives - 8 OB; 6 340.

Funny you say that. The 16 on my team hits 1 or 2 drives a round that are between 330-355 in the fairway. The other 13 are 100 yards offline. His handicap would be higher if his home course was tighter.
