Heading to Sunriver in a few weeks for a golf trip. Got a great deal, hopefully the weather cooperates and we don't get too many frost delays. I'm good playing in the cold if equipped. The resort looks great!
we were there late June when we went and had a frost delay one morning. Was ready to jump in the pool by the time we were done.

That place is heaven on earth. A little "too family" probably for some guys golf groups but the convenience and courses were great.

Are you staying at one of their properties? We rented a 4BR house that had a nice kitchen/deck and hot tub and loved it. The free shuttle service to take you to courses was awesome.

The brewery right there in the village is fun. If you're looking for something kind of neat but not far, go do the lava tunnels just north of sunriver in between Bend.. and hike up and see the lava field.

We drove up to Mt. Bachelor one day and took the lift up - that was cool - you could see FORVER and had great view of The Sisters.

I would go back in a heartbeat and probably spend more time in Bend boozing at breweries. There are over 25 breweries there... highest amount per capita in the US.

We plan on playing two rounds per day but I fear they will get frosted out in the morning. We got an amazing deal for a room on property with a kitchen. This is our first ever golf trip and we both have toddlers. Dipping our toes and trying to feel what we like.

I admittedly (rare for me) didnt do great research but need to find time to hit Bend for a brewery or four.

What courses are you playing at?

Also, really close to Sunriver that is kinda underrated is the worlds largest ponderosa pine. It sounds lame but it's pretty awesome. https://www.outdoorproject.com/united-states/oregon/big-tree-ponderosa-pine

If you're into fly fishing at all, the Fall River is close by and is super fun.

Also, we just got dumped on with snow, so if you're into skiing at all, Mt Bachelor should be in prime spring skiing conditions.

To give y'all some perspectives on Sunriver - Bend Oregon, they're used synonymously yet not the same. Sunriver is about 25 min south of Bend in all inclusive resort with lodging, golf and a river that runs through it

Crosswater is in Sunriver and that's the course you want to play. The other 2 are OK.

But to get the full spectrum of Bend golf, Sunriver isn't ideal because it still does require some driving and it c an take almost an hour drive to get to cool courses in Sisters and Redmond area. And once you're locked in at Sunriver, it's an effort to come out to Bend to enjoy the town.

Sunriver accommodation is great but my experience going to Bend about 15 times during the past 20 years, we have a better time staying in Bend and not Sunriver.

I know we are playing the par 3 and crosswater plus one more. I like skiing, but was supposed to be golf trip, ha! I see the forecast creeping into upper 50s by the time we come. Crossing fingers

Crosswater is amazing. I haven't played the par 3, yet, but have heard great things.

Have done guys trips to Las Vegas, Phoenix and Palm Springs and would recommend all three but sounds like not what you are looking for. We also did Myrtle Beach years ago and it was nice as well. We want to do Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail and Black Jack's Crossing one day, also have friends who did Coeur d'Alene a couple years ago but didn't like it.

I have also played a few Hawaiian courses and even in summer it's pleasant there, so maybe that's an option.

For a short trip travel to MS and stay and play at Mossy Oak and Old Waverly. http://www.mossyoakgolf.com/Lodging.html

In Summer? Mossy Oak was awesome, and expensive, and I threw up all over that course. 100 degrees with 100% humidity. Forecaddies were legit though. Only time a golf club has ever felt heavy in my hands.

Trying to plan a golf trip for a group of likely 4 guys. Anywhere in the US is fair game, and would even consider elsewhere international within reasonable flight time 2-4hrs tops? I'm thinking elsewhere aside from Scottsdale/Vegas but open to rec's. Probably in the summer time frame mid/late august. Most likely a Thursday - Sunday and probably 2 rounds of golf. Great scenery, food, and bars ideal. Michigan crossed my mind but don't know any specific courses or locations. Any particular location/courses please list them out! Thanks in advance!

I moved to Michigan last summer. Lots of great courses, but you'll find that the best ones are nowhere near a major airport. There's only one big airport in the state (Detroit) and most of the good weekend places are at least 2 hours away. I live in the Grand Rapids area and Arcadia is 2 hours, Forest Dunes is 2 hours. If you don't mind not being relatively close to an airport, Michigan is absolutely amazing in the summer!

Wildmen09 - I have lived in Bend for about 20 years. PM me if you need any recommendations on anything. I am avid hiker, golfer and beer drinker, so I have major areas covered. If you are going to play outside Sunriver, you can get some great rates at Pronghorn this time of year and it will be in better condition that the higher elevation courses.

AggieDrugist and Lt Joe - next time you guys are in Bend. Let's golf!

I'm in!

Let me tell u bout my hole in one at Brasada Ranch! I will buy drinks. But we ain't going near Rivers Edge!
OAg

That sounds great! I don't go near River's Edge so we on the same page. I had a hole in one at Widgi during Covid, so we can swap stories! Class of 88.

Heh... Co 88 and 89, we beat tu every year!

We love widgi creek... Which hole??

Aspen Lakes, Widgi, tokatee, Lost Tracks are our regular outing courses and then we thrown some others.. Black butte, pronghorn... Brasada, Sunriver.. And others. To me, beside Bandon, Bend is the best summer golf outing of all.

Widgi #15.

We play Widgi most frequently in the summer, but we like to mix in other courses (Quail Run, Aspen, Black Butte Sunriver, Lost Tracks). I have a friends that are members at Bend CC, Awbrey and Tetherow, so I get to mix those in. I used to play Broken Top a lot but all my friends that were members have moved. In the winter and spring, we hit Juniper, Eagle Crest, Pronghorn. April has been a tough weather month so we haven't played since early March.

We used to play Brasada each year in the spring, but they only allow resort guest and members now. Which hole did you ace?

following - this makes me want to plan a guy's golf trip up there - will need to be next summer though.

#6, was playing 134, but the pin placed on the top of the left side. No way to stop the ball there. If the ball lands on the right, it rolls right and leaves me an impossible putt over the ridge. If the ball is on the left, it rolls off the left. So I took an 8 iron and decided to bank it off the back and suck the ball back on to the green. So I flew the ball 145 yards... And the ball spun off the back on to the green and started rolling... Seemed like an eternity but the ball rolled in to the hole. Went 33-45. F GOLF.

All the courses you mentioned, we've played except the private courses. I love Juniper and Eagle Crest.... I think those are towards Redmond.

Really, Bend is so underrated.

I'm down for sure!

I'm actually headed to Bend tomorrow, but for some epic April skiing up on Bachelor.

We should plan a Bend Aggie golf outing this summer. We love making it up to Bend when the Rogue Valley is covered in smoke.

In Kauai right now for my wedding have have gotten to play twice! It definitely isn't cheap and is a long travel, but there's enough courses to make a trip out of it.

Played Poipu Bay on Monday and Hokuala this morning. Wanted to play Princeville but the aerated this week. Wailua is apparently a gem of a muni too. I want to come back and play those two courses if I'm ever lucky enough to visit here again.

Enjoy the skiing this weekend. The weather looks really nice. You could pull off the ski in the morning, golf in the afternoon combo. Note: parking is going to be a nightmare at the mountain. There is a big festival going on in the main parking lot. Get there early.

Let's definitely do get an Aggie golf outing this summer. There is another Ag here that plays golf so we could pull together a foursome. There are quite a few Ags in Bend.

Have you played the new Bar Run course in Medford? It looks like a fun track.

Bar run is actually up in Roseburg. I had a meeting out there last week and drove by it. Looks fantastic. I'm supposed to meet a client up there soon to get a round in.

It was done by Dan Hixson (Bandon Crossings, Silvies) so I'm sure it'll be great.
OAg
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I haven't made it to Silvies yet but it is on my bucket list. It looks awesome and recently made the Top 100 you can play. It would make a great guys trip destination (golf, fishing, and shooting) but it is pricey and has a very short golf season.

Bandon Crossings is solid. We normally play there when we want to ride and have a few beers while over at Bandon Dunes.

Made it to Bar Run today. We were literally the only group on the course because of the rain. Had a blast. Course plays really nice and will be awesome when it's done. I think it opens July 1st.

Man... That just doesn't look like Roseburg. So that's a brand new course?

Yeah. Same architect who did Silvies and Bandon Crossings, Dan Hixon. The owner is pumping a ton of money into it. It's a beautiful setting right on the Umpqua river.
