After my worst range session in 2 years, I went out and broke 90 for the first time, shooting a 41 on the back to shoot an 87 (par 71, 6500 yards). Had the driver working and also hit my best drive in gameplay.

I LOVE GOLF!

M hmmmmm.... See, bad range session typically results in a good round.

Congrats!

Been a solid month for me! After a 2 year drought, I've fired off three 79's (one in a tournament) and a 2nd best round ever 74 yesterday!

Range sessions really do work! Also helps avoiding any penalty strokes. I look forward to the 95 heading my way this week

Last two rounds have been great! Last Monday even par at Frisco lakes with Bagger. 3 birds and 3 bogeys. Yesterday played at Waterview and was -1. Birdies on the first three holes. Hoping I can keep playing well.
Pinehurst member/guest Friday and Saturday. Playing Mid-pines and Southern pines tomorrow, Pine needles Wednesday and Tot Hill Thursday. Thinking about playing Talamore, too.

Personal best 87 today. The irons were on fire. Playing smart to the fat parts of the green instead of getting greedy. I got a lot of room to improve, but breaking 90 has me on cloud 9. Looking forward to not breaking 100 next time out, but for now….

Shot 70 and won $46 today. 3rd round under par this year and I feel like I can go lower every time I tee it up. But I'm preparing for it to all come crashing down. F GOLF here I come.

When I was 15 (1985), my father drove me 2 hours to Houston and we went to several golf specialty shops to buy my first set of clubs. Pretty sure we spend an entire day going to 3-4 places. I am left-handed, so none of the local places we had in our small towns had options.

Hit several sets into nets and ended up with a set of PowerBilt Citations - before they became a junky house brand. Played them into college and then moved on and they were lost along the way.

I just picked up a set off Ebay and they felt great. Put on set of new grips and polished them up with fine sandpaper grades then metal polish and now they look great. These are back in the bag after 35+ years. Carded a 42 for 9 this weekend and hit them mostly well. My hcap is 18, so 42 is solid for me.

What a treat to play my first gamers again and have a good game on Father's Day - remembering it was my Dad who made a big investment of time and effort to buy these same irons for me 39 years ago.

So is this love golf or f golf. Back-to-back holes in one in the US Senior open but still a missed cut.

Gotta be love golf. 99% of us here would have had a worse score, even with the two HIOs

That's why I posted it here but the guy is in the US Senior Open so within the same round, he would probably say he had both feelings. It is amazing to do it and I would be love golf on a day with one hole-in-one even if I shot 200.

Been playing really bad lately and then just put up 42,34 on par 71. My first 9 under par and best round ever. Only been in the 70s twice before today. 2 penalties on the front too. First bogey on the back came on 17 but I put it within a foot on 18 for 3rd birdie of the back. Finished birdie, birdie, bogey, birdie.

And all thanks to the Skillz grip change! I gave it away on hole 16 to pass along the good luck

Well I finally did it...Broke 80 today for the first time ever.

I'm a 12 HC but have recently been hitting the ball really well trying to bust it and get it down to a 10.

Played Memorial Park last week at shot 81 and was on track until I tripled #18 (#9 really but they have the mines flipped).

Well played Memorial Park today and had a helluva round. It was all clicking. 3 birdies and +6 going into #18 and pared for a smooth 78.

Best part was we got paired with a random walkon single and the first thing he says after introducing himself was 'Alright what's the game? I got a big money game out here tomorrow and need to warm up. How about $5/hole 2 down and birdies automatic press?'. Alright fine with us.

He Venmo'ed me $100 after the round. It was a good day.

See y'all on the F Golf thread next week.

I often book a sunrise tee time at my local 9 hole and have the course to myself. It allows me to play a one-man best ball scramble, which isn't real golf, but sure is fun. Managed a -2 for 9 holes yesterday. Was uncharacteristically putting out of my mind. Must have made 50 or 60 feet of putts.

Made a birdie on 18 to shoot 79 today. 10 shots better than Tuesday.

Three birdies on the back including two in a row which doesn't happen often.

Front nine was a little rougher, but giving myself some grace. Teed off at just before 6 AM. On the plus side I got around the front in about 70 minutes. Unfortunately, they let some people tee off on the back for the first 90 minutes of the day so I got mixed up with all them and took a bit longer on that side. Paired up with another single in my same situation and he was a cool guy.

Overall a nice day out there. +8 on the front, +1 on the back.

Easy course but three birdies and anything in the 70s is a good day for me.

Hitting the ball best I have in a couple of years and close to breaking 80 first time this year. Was pumped to play this weekend and there's a two day jack&jill damnit. Anyway, enjoying practice so should be ready next weekend.

Nice final round in Monterey today. Double-free 76 and I lipped out a few putts (recently punched). Short, pretty easy course but not without its challenges. Mostly just stayed out of trouble and wedges were working well.

Always fun to play well.

The last five years have been a huge struggle. Fell from a 6 HC to a 14HC. I think practicing on the range just made things worse because it created unrealistic expectations for the next round. Nothing I did could keep me from spraying my driver all over the place or topping it so badly that it didn't reach the Red tees. I would often get uncontrollable yips or spazzes at the top of my back swing.

I re-dedicated myself to working out 4-5 days a week over the last couple of months and it has made a massive difference. I no longer get yips at the top of my swing and it's taken so much pressure off the rest of my game. I've been chipping and putting better than ever. Last four rounds have been 79,82,79 & 77. I'm back!

Maybe, but I take crappy rounds so badly that I can't even bring myself to look at the golf forum. If I'm posting here it's cuz I'm playing well.

Been having back issues lately so haven't been playing or practicing bc I had a chance to play congressional Friday. It was wet, so the scoring was just ok. Hit every fairway but 1, and all greens on par 3s. Place was just amazing. Felt like it could host the open tomorrow.

I was down the road in Richmond, playing Country Club of Virginia James River (where Bobby Jones said of Jack "he plays the game I'm not familiar") and they're tournament ready as the Champions Tour comes next weekend. Stands were going up and Richmond missed the rain dump we got in central VA.

Another interesting tidbit, our guys are all celebrating this morning as our Pro Emeritus Dick Mast (age 72) just qualified to play in the Sr PGA at the Congressional next May. Some of the guys already volunteered to be Marshall and I was looking at hotels.

Nice, yeah I work in that area a couple times a year. One of my guys told me he's a member at congressional through his FIL and that I should bring my clubs. We had a good time, so may get to go again some day.

Joined a new club up here in Colorado with a move to a different neighborhood. Played my first 18 there on Sunday with the wife and she caught this pic. I missed the putt but it was for Eagle and had a tap in birdie. Beautiful day!

Edit and she sent me another pic for good measure
