Headed to Vegas this week and will be there only Wednesday - Friday. Probably will only have time to get in one round, and I've heard plenty of recommendations from others that Paiute is a great option.

For those of you that have played, which of the courses would you consider the best option?

For reference, in the Vegas area I've only played Cascata and Boulder Creek. I thought Boulder was ok, but thoroughly enjoyed Cascata.

Thanks for any input.

They rotate the three courses each day I think so check which courses are available the day you play. Wolf is considered the hardest and has an island green par three. I played Snow Mountain and Sun Mountain and both were in incredible condition. I posted pics from the rounds earlier this year and you can search the forum for Paiute threads. I loved both courses but would choose Snow Mountain if I had to pick. On an earlier thread I think it was said an Ag is the superintendent so look him up. I would play in the morning before the wind really kicks up.

Only played Wolf, but man it was a great experience.

Only played wolf as well and it was awesome. One thing to note is that its pretty far from Vegas and finding a ride back can be difficult. Took us 45 minutes to find an Uber that would come get us.

Very true. I had a vehicle so this wasn't a concern, but it's out there.

That's also part of its charm. It feels like it's just you and your group, magnificent golf, surrounded by the mountains and desert void.

Thanks for the responses. Yeah, I'll probably do a daily rental from the hotel and ust drive over there. I figured between the wait and the cost of ubering over there I may as well just grab a rental and drive.

AgOutsideAustin, thanks for the reminder of that other thread - I should have searched for it before posting. I'll shoot a PM over to the super today.

Nice pics tony!

Also, I'm not sure if they would allow a local Clark County Ag to book the round for both of us at their rate, but if they did and if any of yall are out there and want to play, I'll gladly pay for both of us.

I played it in 1998. Can't remember which course. It was amazing. Not a blade of grass out of place.

One of my favorite Vegas area courses. Worth the drive out there. Plus one is the superintendents is an Aggie. Ask for Kyle McFarland when you go out and he'll treat you like you are at your home course!

Played there in 2020 and played 36 holes in January. Was in great shape. I can't remember the names of the courses but the North course was much friendlier while the South course was fairly challenging, still fun though! I had a rental car hitch made it much easier.

Bumping this thread for a PSA to anyone that might go to Vegas with a group to play golf.

Im heading to Vegas at the end of February for my bachelor party, and my rock-star best man stumbled across a company called VIP Golf Services based in Vegas.

We asked for a quote for 3 back to back tee times, and were very surprised at the price we received back.

For $189 per person, we get an 18 person limo to and from our hotel, TaylorMade rental clubs, greens fee, carts, and range balls at Paiute Wolf.

Advertised price for greens fees and carts on Piaute's website is $109 per person.

$80/pp to not have to worry about transportation or clubs is a no brainer in my opinion. Especially since it is so far from the hotel. Paiute charges $70 for rental clubs if you book directly through the club!

Played all three, can't go wrong. Wolf has a slight advantage for me if I had to choose.

If anyone playing either Wolf or Snow Mountain is interested in a Golf Logix green book, let me know. We can make a deal.

Also, side note. The wind feels about 50% stronger out at Paiute than whatever the forecast says for Vegas.
The last time we played Wolf we had about 40+ mph winds the entire round. It was a punch in the gut all day.

You are 100% right about the wind. Whatever it is blowing in Vegas it will be double that at Paiute.

One of my bigger golf regrets living in Vegas was I only went to Paiute twice and played Wolf both times. We lived in Henderson and were just stuck on Rio Secco with occasional trips to Coscata, TPC Vegas, and Boulder Creek.

That was in the height of the great recession. We would buy 12 rounds, used anytime, at Rio Secco for $500. It would also get you a round at Coscata for $99. TPC Vegas had a local rate of about $50 and the local rate at Boulder Creek was I think $35. For those prices on those courses it was hard to go anywhere else, and Paiute was about 1:15 from my house. Rio Secco was 90 seconds.

Im guessing in the 3.5 years I lived there I played Rio Secco 150 times, Boulder Creek 50, TPC Vegas 30, and Coscata a handful. I may have played 25 times on all the rest of the courses.

It was a great golf life.

One other thing to keep in mind, especially for anyone going to Vegas in the next couple of weeks, is you can expect a five hour round and it gets dark VERY early. You should tee off by 11am if you expect to finish in December and January.
