Starts tomorrow and they are closing down some streets around my hood. Saw a few courtesy cars today, didn't look inside. Buddy that is a member there projects the winning score will be -23. It got soft from the rain over the past couple days and the winds won't be bad during the week.

It's sold out and has a 5 year contract so we'll see how this goes outside of Dallas County.

Caddied for a friend in the pro am today. We had Hudson Swafford for nine holes and I asked his caddie what they thought the winning score would be. He said if they keep the tees back 9 or 10 under, if they bring them up 15 or 16 under.

Swafford can get the ball out there (caddie said he was 30th in driving distance) and he kept commenting how long the course was.

And there are 7 guys currently at 7 under par.

Soft from the rain. Wind at 5mph. Beautiful day with scoring conditions that could not be any better. So today's low scores should be about as good as they get

Someone tell me about TPC Craig Ranch. I have never played it.

Who the heck is JJ Spaun? He shot 9 under.

Also, Dechambeau shoots 69 and whines that he didn't shoot 63.

Long and relatively open, it's a bombers paradise. Biggest defense is the wind and when it's not blowing combined with the soft greens from the rain these guys will go real low.

If Dechambeau whinned about 50% less he would be much more likeable.

Add in lift/clean/place and it's no surprise this is going so low

Only times I've played there were in winter, so the course was fast/dormant/hard

Awesome! It won't be like a normal experience, but I'm sure it'll be fun!!

Went today, was invited to one of the boxes lining the 17th.

While I see how they were trying to replicate 16 in Scottsdale it fell totally flat. Spent 6 hours watching pros hit pitching wedges safely 20 feet right of the flag.

You'll have a blast. PGA events are my favorite sporting events by far. You'll be so close to the action, you can listen in on the player and his caddie discussing the shot. What other sport can you do that?

Add in the ability to wander around rather than being confined to a seat, no set start/stop time, just a leisurely experience unlike every other sport.

On a side note, I don't understand why the PGA doesn't market any of this.

It's a niche sport. Only certain "party" tournaments attract non-golf fans. The Byron lost that when they left Las Colinas for south Dallas where no one wanted to go. Hopefully the new venue will spark more interest again, but it's not convenient for most people that live in the metroplex

We'll see.

Colonial is still the best one I've been to in person, and I've been to the Phoenix open and the PGA at Bethpage.

I think with time, Craig Ranch with Legacy West not being too far away could build a cocaine and boob job party crowd

All true. But golf does offer a chance to get up close and personal that other sports don't unless your Jack Nicholson. Seems like it's a selling point.

I've now seen this twice today. I don't understand this. It's always been the Byron to everyone I know.

Because it is called "The Nelson" for short and has been for years. I have never heard someone call it "The Byron" until recently.

Everyone I know in the Salesmanship club calls it The Nelson, we grew up calling it The Nelson. The Byron makes no sense.

Sorry, but this is wrong and everyone you know is wrong. Been attending this tournament since the 80s. The Nelson is the only acceptable version. Usage of "The Byron" identifies the posers

Totally agree, but most people don't give two ****s about golf, unfortunately. Go look at some threads here. Someone posted that they only watch 2 tournament a year, and neither are majors. That's weird to me if your a fan of the game. They play golf, but they're not really a fan of it if they only watch 2 tournament a year

Ok. Cool. I guess I'll go tell everyone I know that goes every year that they have to now say they're going to the Nelson, not the Byron.

Well, someone did them wrong or they weren't good at paying attention when learning their business. You can argue all you want, but I'm being 100% no-****ting-you honest here.

That doesn't make them right.

I am just letting you know how it is referred to by the people that host the tournament. You do you, but it seems rude to call the tournament by Mr. Nelson's first name only.
