Midland CC - More E&P guys, executives, long time royalty check families. High initiation and high monthly dues, waiting list to become a member and have to have a sponsor, once a member you have a sellable voting stock when you leave. I would say this is definitely the best course out of the three. Fun par 3 course and an excellent practice facility.
Green Tree CC - Probably more of a mix of E&P and Service. Mid level initiation (In August 2020 I was told by their membership director it is $20K initiation that you can pay off up to age 35, $615 per month dues, no cart fee). (3) 9 hole courses that they have recently renovated. I think they might still be in the process of renovating. Good practice facility. The clubhouse is older than both Midland and Odessa. Lots of members.
Odessa CC - Definitely has more Service side of the business as members. High initiation and average dues. (2) 18 hole courses. Great clubhouse and an incredible practice facility. Fun atmosphere. Great staff and great members. If you live in Midland it will take you 20+ mins to get to the club.
All of the above have good restaurants, tennis, pools, and workout facilities.
Ranchland Hills - I joined Ranchland last year due to COVID pricing and the sale of the club to the school district. The prices were too good to pass up to have easy access to a good golf course. I paid $750 initiation and the monthly dues are $335. Cart fees are $15 per person. The golf is private and the restaurant is public. The members are honestly a mix of E&P, Service, Landman, Engineers, Pumpers, etc. Members lounge has card tables & craps table. I ran into Johnny Manziel and Jason Terry up there one night. They put on good member tournaments, my favorite being night golf. Once my friends move away or leave the club I will probably join Green Tree, if I am not on a Corporate account.
If you are looking to take customers golfing, they will want to play MCC, OCC, and GT every time over Ranchland.
If you ever need a playing partner or are looking for a game, let me know. We have at least one every weekend.
