I use a soapy water and my battery power drill with a wire brush attachment. Really clean those scoring lines. Also follow up with a polish finish on the outside that makes my clubs look nice and shiny. Not a new shiny, more like a set that is well cared for.

I find admirers of the cleanliness of my clubs everywhere I go.

I have my grips changed each season, prefer the soft grip that allows me to feel the club head.

Good maintenance of your clubs will help lower those scores!

BONUS
Always dress for success, look good beating your opponents. Spend a few extra dollars on the top of the line attire. Shirt tucked in, nice expense belt , prefer nice long pants but if you must wear shorts, no cargo shorts. If your waist size is less than 1/2 your height, consider the pull over collarless approved shirt (my choice).

DO NOT WEAR tennis shoes while golfing, golf shoes only.

Nice cap, no floppy hat

Replace that worn out golf glove and clean those golf balls when able.

Walk on the weekends with a nice carry bag.

Don't be a Beta boy but be Alpha man when golfing, get an attitude and look the part of a golfer.

Afterward your round, shake hands with all fellow players no matter how long you have known them. Treat your opponent with respect.

Go to the range/putting green and work out what bothered you that day.

With all due respect Mr. Bond, I play country clubs and should have qualified my walking statement as most public courses don't allow walkers.

Maybe you park in the back of the parking lot and walk to your cart rather than drive the cart to your car.

You don't play a lot of golf then? Because no way I could get most of my clubs re-gripped only once per year.

Or, maybe my grip pressure is too strong and you could help me out with that.

I will give a lesson on the proper grip in due time but I play spring thru Oct golf and only regrip once a year.
Currently, I am playing 9 holes/day during the week and 18 on Saturday. Sunday I try to get in 18 but church commitments can gladly interrupt that day.

Cool months I average 80 holes/ week.

Hot months, closer to 54 holes/ week.

Cold months, very little golf activity

Some are, some aren't.

Some cart riders take too many strokes, some don't.

Some walkers have hit and are 100+ yards up the fairway waiting on the cart riders that are going back and forth from one side of the fairway to the other side of rough. Some walkers are waiting at the green for the riders to arrive.

and so on and so forth.................................

I guess I am a hack. I wear a cheap black belt and very comfortable cross-trainer shoes.

As pompous as OP may come across, I'm not opposed to some of the things he says.

I don't care what others wear on the course but I do think cargo shorts look bad period. I do try to dress appropriately for the weather first then look as best as I can. But I won't spend extra bucks trying to look better. Comfort first.

Private Country Club geezers who have standing 7:00AM tee times on Sat and Sun do walk and more often than not, they'll outpace more riders than you think.

Guys, take it for what it's worth. Golf is an individual game and what works for one doesn't work for others.
Maybe he'll have a tip that can shave a few strokes.

I do not care how clean your clubs are, or what you do to clean them......UNLESS I am buying them from you then I care.

And I agree on one thing......no stupid cargo shorts and tuck your shirt in, even if you are a complete fatazz.

That shirt would be tucked in for exactly one swing. Counting bending over to tee up, mark a ball, reach for a beer, etc., 120 re-tucks would add a lot of time to his round.
