Anyone ever try these?

Watching Bryson win last weekend made me fall for the markerting hype and I bought 3. I'm giving these a try on driver, 7i, and PW. Got them in the mail today and even medium size is yuge (I wear ML glove and medium is the suggested size per Jumbomax website).

Most of my clubs right now are standard size grips which are too small. I usually play midsize but I revamped my whole bag in the last 2 months and haven't got around to changing grips yet. My miss is a hook or block.

I've also got Golf Pride MCC Plus 4 in midsize put on 3W, 8i, and UW to try out and compare. Hoping to get out either Sunday or Monday for a range session and will report back.

Do you turn the ball over a lot? I went through spells of hooks and toyed with fat grips at that time and it definitely kept me from turning over but figured I should fix my swing rather than my equipment.

Bryson does make it appealing though. Takes a lot of the action out of the swing.

But no swing is perfect. If you can make a minor equipment change to fit your natural (repeatable) swing, why not?

Yes I definitely turn the ball over too much, especially in standard size grips which is why I usually play midsize.

I've read about the swingweight stuff. Ideally if I switched completely to Jumbomax I'd just get used to the new swingweight. Don't really want to cover my clubs in lead tape, and from what I've read if would require a lot of lead tape to get even close to original swing weight.

Its an experiment though since I need whole set grip change anyway. The grips by themselves definitely feel very conforming and stable in my hands.

Apparently Bryson plays XL size and has the right hand grip the club way more in the palm which is why his right forearm is in line with the shaft DTL at address. I can still grip these normal with an interlocking grip, only difference is the right forefinger and thumb don't really come together.

You really need to swingweight those clubs. 11 points is huge. You're gonna be so light I bet you won't even feel the clubhead in the swing.

I'm more the opposite now, use skinny grips to help get a little more movement on the ball.

Your mileage may vary, but stats/analysis have shown that the old myth of smaller grips = more hook, fatter grips = less hook...is just that, a myth.

I used thicker grips as an excessive draw/hook stopgap about 15 years ago and ended up regretting it. My swing subtly changed over the course of a few months and I ended up in the worst, extended slump I've had in 25+ years of golf.

Do you have a link for this? Through experience I feel pretty confident you are wrong here but who knows, could just be a mental thing.

Bubba plays grips with like 12 wraps on the bottom hand specifically to decrease the chance of a hook.

Alright so I got the clubs gripped.

I have driver, 7i, and PW with Jumbomax medium and 3W, 8i, UW with MCC Plus 4 midsize.

Unfortunately its been raining too much today to test them out.

You can definitely still feel the clubhead quite easily with the jumbomax grips. I play DGS300 in irons and wedges which are heavier shafts (124 grams I think) so this may play a role. But my driver is G400 with Alta CB (55 grams) and the clubhead feels no different when I had a standard GP Tour Velvet on it. All the added weight is in my hands so I think this is why it doesn't seem to affect feel. Regardless, will need to see some ball flight and actual swings.

Will update once I get some range time, hopefully tomorrow.

Update on this.

Going all 13 clubs with Jumbomax medium. Feel is the same. Grip pressure is less. Stability of the grip in the hands is definitely better. I still hold the grip the same as a standard size unlike Bryson who has a palm grip in both hands.

Ball flights tends to be a little tighter on dispersion as the face tends to stay more square coming into impact.
