This is a great venue. Too bad it is leaving. Hopefully it shows up again somewhere on tour. I think it would be a great layout for a major or playoff or WGC event.

Withdrew after 1st round 79. Brutal. Had no idea about this guy until this thread, but really feel for him. Needs to forget about keeping his card or whatever it is that has him banging his head against a wall week after week. At this point he should just take time off and hit reboot to try and save his career.

Well looks like he is back on tour this week and is currently DFL at the Byron Nelson at 11 over. How many more events does he have until he is back looking for a real job?
He's made one cut in his last 25 starts (spanning 20 months back or so), and that was a T-69th finish. Currently ranked 1200 something in the world. What a complete free fall.
look at the dudes scorecards. He literally cannot make any birdies. His scores look like your average joe ex college golfer who gets to play a few times a month.
I will never forget the look I saw on that dudes face when I followed him at the SHO a couple years ago when his free fall started. You could see in his eyes that he was lost and literally had no idea where his ball was gunna go. sad to see

Kaufman hit his tee shot into the native area, he hit his next shot to the green and got down for bogey on par-4 11th. This moved Kaufman to 2 over for the round.
Kaufman tee shot went 192 yards to the right side of the fairway and his approach went 31 yards to the green where he had a two-putt for bogey, bringing Kaufman to 3 over for the round.
After hitting his third shot into the left greenside bunker, Kaufman hit his next to the green and reached the green on his fourth shot, rolling a two-putt double bogey on the 480-yard par-4 13th. This moved Kaufman to 5 over for the round.
On the 440-yard par-4 15th, Kaufman had a bogey after hitting the green in 4 and one putting, moving Kaufman to 6 over for the round.
After a 315 yard drive on the 502-yard par-4 18th, Kaufman chipped his fourth shot to 4 feet, which he rolled for one-putt bogey on the hole. This moved Kaufman to 7 over for the round.

That **** is just really hard. Its amazing how good you have to be to compete at that level. He did it for about year or so. And he won as an amateur. I'm mostly pulling for himthird coast.. said:

Guys have been as bad as him and come back and won again. Pat Perez and that short knocker Chez Revie went thru it. So did Matt Kuchar and Lee Westwood.
Maybe not quite this bad though.

Went back to recap the 2016 Masters when he played with Spieth in the final pairing on Sunday. On his way to an 81, Smylie actually birdied #12, while his playing partner was busy throwing away the tournament with a quadruple bogey 7.
Bump. Currently 5 over through 7 at the Shriners and one spot out of DFL. Only reason he's in the field is he won this event four years ago. Must feel like a lifetime ago for him.

This would have to be a miserable way to go through a career. Can't imagine what this dude must be going through. Hate to count him down and out but at this point a turnaround does not look very likely. Good thing for him he should have some pretty good connections so I'm sure he can figure out a career off the course because it doesn't look like it's going to work out for him on any tour.
