Looking for some great ideas for a weekend (2-3 day) golf trip for a group of buddies. A couple of us have babies on the way next summer and would like to sneak a guys golf weekend in before things get too serious! LIve in North and Central Texas.

A few things to consider....
-There will be 4-6 players
-Wiling to spend a little extra money for nice course/accomodations
-We are all decent golfers, so we wouldn't be hacking it up
-Weekend would probably work best due to work schedules (although I know this can add cost). Not completely throwing out weekdays as an option.
-Have thought about a destination trip (again I know can add cost)

Just to start the thread, I was looking at something like Barton Creek golf package in Austin.....

It's a little late for this year but for future golf outings there is a 2 man scramble at horseshoe bay called the Texas 10K 2 man scramble. It's today, tomorrow and Sunday. For a little less than $500 a person, it covers tourney fees, hotel fees at the resort and all the golf you can play at Slick Rock, Apple Rock and Ram Rock. Joe Warren which is an Aggie puts the tourney on. I have been coming to this for about 6 years now and it is a blast.

Random thoughts if you are staying in Texas:Blackjack Crossing in Lajitas, Wolfdancer in Bastrop, San Antonio is golf poor you could play several courses there and you mentioned Barton. You can't go wrong there.

We make a trip to Bastrop several times a year (day trip) we play Pine Forest for a budget trip and Wolf Dancer if we are spending money. I would play both if I were to make a weekend out of it. Pine Forest is very cheap, a lot of fun, and at times in great shape. If you want to play 2 nicer courses I vote Barton(look for stay and play deals). Austin would also supply other extra curricular activities.

You might also look at ColoVista in Bastrop. The course is not as nice as Wolfdancer, but is better than Pine Forest. They also have some accommodations on site.

Moody is actually a phenomenal golf course, Galveston leaves something to be desired though

blackjack crossing at lajitas is my favorite stay and play in texas.

I really like pine dunes as well.

Always first on my list when asked that question. Cannot go wrong with Horseshoe Bay. Great golf courses. Great pool at the resort. And of course the Lake. Probably not a place in Texas I would rather spend a weekend with golfing buddies. Do it every year.
