How long do you want to ignore this user?
Anyone have any info they're willing to share on the private clubs closer to town? I'm up in the woodlands currently but looking to move inside the loop later this year. I'm 28 with about a 15 hdcp. I'd like to get an idea of the process to join as a junior member. If you want to message me or post here I'd really appreciate it.

Also if anyone is looking for another person to start playing with, let me know!

Club Corp has a young executive membership for 300 a month unlimited golf, carts, range etc. And you can play your non home courses twice a month for nothing

Thanks for the reply Mr. Bond. You've brought up an interesting point. Did The Woodlands CC just recently join club corp? When I was checking into a membership at TWCC a couple years back it was much more than the membership across the street at Canongate but now it looks like there both owned by Club Corp. I wouldn't mind joining TWCC for 300 a month if thats really an option. I'll have to look into it further.

Anyone happen to have information on young executive memberships at clubs like River Oaks, Royal Oaks, Houston CC, or Lakeside? I'd be interested to see if membership interest has taken any kind of hit with the recent oil prices.

Oil economy is hurting demand for club memberships. Negotiate!

The Woodlands CC is a club Corp course. I will say this (my home course is magnolia creek) and as a young executive member I don't have access to Deerwood, Bay Oaks or Woodlands CC but I do all the other courses including Panther Trails and Oaks in the Woodlands. I'm not sure if the Woodlands cc offers the young executive or not. I'm sure Panther trails and oaks do. Hope that helps

I've been a "performance center" member at panther and the oaks for a couple years. It's just access to the practice area. Prior to that, I had contacted TWCC. At the time they did offer a young membership. I think it was something like 17.5k upfront and ~500/month. I wasn't ready to bite that bullet because I wasn't sure how long I'd stay put. Now that I'm considering moving into town, I thought I'd try and get some information on the clubs down there. I'd expect them to be at least if not more expensive, have a waiting list, and require member referrals. I'll call a few places and see what I can find out.

Also a member at BraeBurn. Really good younger membership there right now. Email me if you want more info.

BraeBurn is your best bet unless you have a lot of $$ and a long time horizon. I can assure you that the economy has not affected the demand at River Oaks, Houston CC and Lakeside.

If you have a good connection, a junior membership at Lakeside or Houston may be reasonably priced. Lakeside would probably the less outrageous and, in my opinion, is the best course in Houston. They are re-doing their greens in 2017 though, so that may influence things. I think HCC is currently under renovation... anyone know?

Last I heard it was ~22k for a junior exec initiation at lakeside.

I think Lakeside Jr went up to $30k initiation

Yikes, I guess "reasonably priced" is a relative term

What is the cost at Braeburn? Initiation and monthly?

HCC was recently renovated, but there are ongoing issues. Members not happy. ROCC course much nicer now.

Love that place. Course is always in good shape and plays quite tough. The rough gets pretty thick in the summer.

The junior rates are affordable and totally worth it. I miss being a member there.

HCC was renovated but they are still having problems with # 8. ROCC was just re-done by Fazio and it's awesome. Best course in Houston now.

The Jr deals at each are about ~$15k initiation but you have to make up the additional $110k on your 35 th bday.

Will,

I live in the Woodlands and have a Club Corp One membership (what used to be Cannongate). My bill is $355/month not counting cart fees (which are about $20), so if I play 4 times a month its about $435. However, The Woodlands Country Club, Palmer Course, and Player Course is not accessible according to them. I haven't figured out how it works but me and a buddy called and got on to the Woodlands Country Club for about $100 each but then when we called to play the Player Course they said we did not have access. A few days later we tried again and they said they were too full. I think they call the course and ask if you can play and if they are not very busy they will allow it. That's just my theory.

Thanks for the replies 7iron and 1391. I've emailed the membership office and am still waiting on a reply. Do either of you know what the Young Executive and Active Golf Membership $'s are (initiation/monthly)?

There young executive is broken down into three groups (21-27, 28-33, and 33-39 I think). I was in the youngest category and my initiation was $250, but I got one month free and my monthly dues were $200, plus cart. cart fees are around $20 a round. But they also have pull carts I believe, and the course is extremely walkable.

Not sure what the prices are for the other two categories, but I assume it can't be that much more

I don't think you can beat those prices. I did some reading up on Black Hawk CC and noticed that the Junior membership runs up to the age of 36 and that you don't owe the difference in membership categories, just the difference in monthly dues. Anyone have a clue as to what the initiation/monthly dues are there? The information I found was a couple years old and ball parked it around $18K/300-400 for the Junior executive level.

Black Hawk is $17,500, and monthly is $415 plus tax. My advice would be to go somewhere else. Ever since Escalante bought the place it's gone downhill quickly. We're a year and a half into a bunker renovation that is not even halfway complete. They have a different excuse every time they stop working on the bunkers (which are in HORRIBLE shape), but clearly what it boils down to is that they have a cash flow problem and only buy as much sand as they can afford, which isn't much. The rest of the course is usually in great shape and the golf course itself is one of the best in the city IMO, but dues go up every single year, while service and member experience deteriorates every year. Management is clueless and they're losing members left and right.

C'mon, Gary. I'll challenge that. Best ITL perhaps.

I've only played the Fazio course out at CW and it was about 35 degrees. I was impressed.

If you've ever played ROCC, you know that the terrain is unlike any other course in Houston. Fazio came in with a complete redo. 3 completely new holes. I'm obviously biased, but I think it's the best track in Houston (not counting Whispering Pines as it isn't in Houston and I haven't played Blue Jack).

Does anyone have knowledge of how the ClubCorp ONE program works if your home club is not a golf club (i.e., the downtown Met)? My new company offers membership to the Met and I want to upgrade to include golf privileges. The lady I've been corresponding with hasn't been very helpful. Bond, I'm looking at you.

I honestly have no clue about that. Apologies

Agree with Garym - played the renovated RoCC last week and there's nothing like it in Houston. That bayou does wonders for the elevation.
